Overall good experience. Made reservations for 7:45pm. I didn’t realize they had a lunch menu and dinner menu. We were actually more interested in the lunch menu but couldn’t order from it. (Totally my fault). We had potstickers to start, both varieties were very tasty. Pork shank, macadamia crusted mahi, filet and ribeye were ordered. Some garlic butter or zip sauce would be a great addition for the steaks. All were pretty good. Pork shank was very tender but lacked some flavor. Crusted crab/mahi was very good. Hula pies were a hit. Very light flavor - a thicker cookie crust would really set this pie off. We had a mixed service experience. The hostess appeared to be having a bad day but our server was very friendly and took good care us!

I had to talk to the manager Jake due to an issue that we had with the gift cards over at Dukes. He was great. He straightened everything out and we watched him and he’s a very much hands-on manager really helping out his staff in that restaurant. We also had Stephanie as a waitress and she was wonderful. Love this restaurant.

Took my family here on my second dining experience at Mala. It exceeded expectations once again and is now a favorite of my family’s as well. We were a table of 7 and had excellent service. Everyone of us devoured our dishes, including dessert. A trip to Maui is not complete without dining at Mala. Mahalo Joe and staff!

Dined for lunch. Mango BBQ salad and Caesar salad were both wonderful. Definitely make a reservation, it was super busy when we arrived and the couple ahead of us was told there would be no tables available for 30-45 minutes. It is casual during the day; you’re on the beach. I dined here several years ago and enjoyed it! We’re actually headed to Dukes now for breakfast!

Merriman’s has never let us down. We had meatless entrees and we both ate every bite. B ordered pasta from the Starters/Apps menu and I had a mushroom pot pie special. I struggle finding words to adequately describe the flavors, textures, and beauty of the pot pie. A blend of mushrooms and each flavor stood out. The crust was brilliant; absolutely perfect. The dough was stretched over a cast iron pie plate and it had risen probably 4” over the mushrooms inside. And the pastry was delicious. Honestly, a top 5 dining experience of a lifetime of fine food. But salads, yes. Off of the menu, but perfect. Generous portion of very fresh everything. I had the blue cheese crumbles on mine and B went without dairy. Mango, avocado, tomato, greens dressed with subtle citrus dressing. Perfect.
