Inspired by long days on the Gulf, late nights on the ranch and the colorful creations of our abuela, our family's Kitchen & Cantina showcases the rich foods and traditions we grew up with on both sides of the border.Nothing matches the flavor of food grilled over mesquite. Try wood-fired Texas quail swaddled in homemade tortillas, jalapeno rellanos stuffed with house-made chorizo and sizzling, family-style parrilladas - huge mixed platters of wild game and fresh vegetables, topped with pico de gallo and queso fresco - a unique spin on Houston barbeque. Our days begin roasting chilies and tomatoes, rolling fresh tortillas in our bakery and wringing every last drop of Ruby Red grapefruit for cocktails. We hand-grind our own sausage and hand-trim every ounce of meat in our butchery, then anoint it with the savory seasonings and marinades we've honed over generations.A few margaritas on our patio and you've found your new casa sweet casa.

Bosscat Kitchen & Libations perfectly meshes upscale and casual dining with an expansive whiskey selection and unique offering of American comfort food. It offers high energy, open spaced concepts to promote a lively dining experience. With the rustic industrial aesthetic, brick metal and barrels are prevalent in the space. One of its best attractions is the famous whiskey room, that houses hundreds of whiskies from several countries. From high end whiskies like Pappy Van Winkle, to a shot of Jameson & Coors Light, there is something here for everyone's taste; and Bosscat prides itself on being this type of environment. New flavors and recipes are often brought into the kitchen. All cooks on staff are encouraged to brainstorm and eat with the executive chef, Peter Petro. This collaborative process is the foundation of their culinary art. Encouraging and fostering new ideas with seasonal produce, meats and spices fosters the fun and unique dining experience they so strongly emulate.

We did not know a band would be playing. We were there on a Thursday night, and the website and reviews do not mention that. We were seated right in front of the band, who were doing sound checks while we had appetizers. But, the band stopped with the sound checks. Our appetizers arrived, and they were wonderful. My wife had something called Sopes de Hongos (mushrooms on top of a sort of bread with a sauce) which were truly special. The band started playing around the time we ordered our main courses. They were not as loud as I expected them to be, and were really quite enjoyable. Our main courses were superb, especially my Callo de Hacha (scallops). Desserts were also wonderful, and the Tres Leches with pumpkin whipped cream was another wonder. Next time I will call ahead and find out if there is going to be music, and I will request a table further from the band. I will note that the band was great, but we were closer than ideal.

We returned for another wedding anniversary, because we are always treated with superior service, excellent food, whatever you choose on the menu and even when the restaurant is full the ambiance is still like you are their special guest, not “another customer”. It is our special place for our special celebrations.

Well it's weird but right off the bat my kudos first go to the Valet Parking. The traffic was horrible arriving at the restaurant. Completely stopped. But as we got to the front door expecting a horrible experience trying to find a parking spot we were right at the front door and there was the Valet Parking sign. We pulled into the dropoff spot and handed off our key to the Valet and went right into the restaurant. It would have been a chore looking for a spot to park but it ended up being easy peasy. The place is gorgeous !! We were immediately brought to a semi circle table for four even though we were only two. We talked with Jada (SP?) and Lidia. They were perfect! We chatted about our cocktail choices and our wine choices for the perfect pairing for our food choices. We got filthy Grey Goose Vodka Martins to start. We then went over the menus. 3 menus. One for whiskeys one for wine one for food. We chose a nice white wine and for food we got shrimp cocktail, quail knots, lump crab cakes, tuna sashimi, lobster bisque, twice baked potato, Brussels sprouts, scalloped potatoes, heirloom tomatoes, double pork chops, petit filet, chocolate sin cake, warm butter cake, pino noir, and a great bread basket variety basket. We brought a lot home because the servings were very generous so we couldn't eat it all. Not even close. The live music was so good and the surroundings were so nice. It was a fantastic experience! One of the best dining experiences we've ever had.
