The original Hot and Hot Fish Club was founded in the late 1700’s by the planters of All Saints Parish. The social club was dedicated to epicurean pursuits; gourmet food, strong drinks and festive times. The first club was said to be on Drunken Jack Island, located just a few miles south from here. Members of the original club described their past time spent on the island as the “happiest hours of their lives.” The Club was dismantled and finally laid to rest after the Civil War. An ever shifting sand bar off the coast of Huntington Beach State Park is all that remains of the original site. The Hot Fish Club today is located in the oldest existing restaurant building on the Grand Strand. It was Christmas night with 20 + people waiting outside. It’s a great place to see the sunset and the food was really good. I recommend the she crab soup was awesome. My husband got the steak and it was perfect. We got there one hour early parking is tight, got a drink at the bar and the woman bartender was so nice. I would definitely go back. I did hear they stopped taking walk-in. So I do recommend you make a reservation.

Excellent holiday fare at our first visit to The Independent! Our personable server, Hunter, was totally knowledgeable of cocktail and menu details. Our entrees were cooked to perfection and the crowning glory was the Hummingbird cake dessert. Truly, as good as it gets~ a venue not to be missed!

Our server was wonderful! He knew all about the decor and had great facts! They were also very accommodating. The smaller room got really cold, since people were leaving, so I asked if we can move to the big room, which had more people and was warmer. They looked into it and was able to grant the request. I was sad that the raviolis were sold out. We both had the lamb burgers. They were amazing! Would recommend!
