- PPaulCornwall •1 review5.0Dined 1 day agoSuper food, service, drinks & view. We were a table of 5 with a dog and we tried a verity of offerings from the menu, all were excellent. Staff were very friendly and accommodating from the moment we walked through the door. Will certainly be recommending and visiting again.More infoPorthminster Beach CaféPrice: Very Expensive• Seafood• St Ives•4.7
- JJacquieVIPLondon •7 reviews5.0Dined 3 days agoThis cafe is turning out phenomenal dishes that truly celebrate the ingredients - even the chips - which are heavenly earthy, piping hot and flavourful. I started with roast sardines with a smattering of finely chopped garlic and I was wondering if the garlic might overpower the natural tangyness of these flawless fish. Not a bit! The balance was perfect and the flavours just sang in the mouth. I loved the starter choices so much that I ordered another for my main which I had with the heavenly chips. Blue cheese and pears with Parma ham. Incredible! Just the right amount of each ingredient. Yes! I scraped the plate. Finally, I finished with apple crumble tart with clotted cream. The pleasantly acidic pool of berries calmed the natural, perfectly pitched sweetness of the apple tart. I would have preferred a small jug of custard but hey, we’re in Cornwall so the clotted cream sat beautifully on top and gave the dish a velvety texture. Staff were warm, friendly and knowledgeable. I had a large bottle of fizzy water and my bill was around £40. The price reflects the quality of ingredients which were top notch.More infoPorthgwidden Beach CaféPrice: Expensive• Fish• St Ives•4.6
- SSophieDevon •3 reviews5.0Dined 4 days agoWOW! WOW WOW! We have officially found our new favourite restaurant in Cornwall! My husband and I love fishing, we love catching and cooking our own fish. We always comment we feel that fish is over-fussed with and complicated when we eat it in restaurants. THANK YOU ARGOE for changing this!!! Finally a restaurant offering fresh, locally caught fish, cooked to perfection and letting the fish be the total star of the table, with some fabulous generous fish portions enjoyed with beautiful potatoes and gorgeous salad- the DREAM combo! The appetisers and small plates also absolutely gorgeous, with wonderful flavours. The fish soup was absolutely mind-blowing. We also loved the ray wing. The fish grilled on the open fire gave the most gorgeous smokey flavours. Finish off with the most beautiful desserts. Fabulous service and a fantastic setting. We whole-heartedly recommend Argoe, we will definitely be back, and thank you for restoring our faith in Cornish seafood restaurants!!!!More infoArgoePrice: Expensive• Seafood• Penzance•4.9
