The Lexington is more than a restaurant, it’s an institution. Located on the corner of Lexington Parkway and Grand Avenue, this St. Paul community was the most fashionable at the turn of the 19th century. The St. Paul elite lived just blocks away and the first electric trolley brought visitors up and down Grand Avenue. The Lexington opened in 1935, after the end of prohibition, and was a popular neighborhood bar to gather and socialize. Previously operating as a speakeasy, the expansive wood panels were perfect for hiding a little booze and one can only imagine the shenanigans going on beyond the hidden staircase behind the coat check. We had a great server, Heidi. We were seated right away with our reservation. The restaurant was quiet. The food was delicious. The menu reflected the venue event, a Wild game. Some items were not available. There are many great options to choose from.

I think the waiter pays attention to social cues well. Simple things like giving us 3 minutes extra to look at the menu. To asking if we need a refill on drinks. The server felt presence but never overstepping. I can appreciate that skill especially in a busy and vibrant establishment.

The dinner at the Lexington was great from the valet parking to the Key Lime pie. Our waiter Adam and his assistants Shaun and Sophia very knowledgeable with just the right amount of attention to detail. The filet mignon steaks were grilled to perfection and the asparagus was very tasty. We look forward to our next visit.
