A Family Tradition For Over 90 YearsMrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant first opened in 1934 with Mrs. Knott and her children serving the first customers in their tea room. The restaurant has grown over the years into one of the largest in California, but the classic fried chicken dinner is still made the same way today using Mrs. Knott's recipes. Every complete chicken dinner includes handmade biscuits, side salad, choice of cabbage or cherry rhubarb, three pieces of fried chicken, and mashed potatoes smothered in gravy. For dessert: your choice of boysenberry pie or boysenberry sherbet. Many other dishes are also available including grilled chicken, salads, and a number of appetizers. A full-service bar, serving signature boysenberry-infused cocktails, is also available.Currently, we are following all government-issued regulations and seating is currently outside only. This was Christmas day so the restaurant was fairly busy and noisy. We came after the 9 am to 2 pm brunch had ended but the wait staff was still very busy. We did not get silverware and napkins until we asked for it when the food was served. Service was just OK since they seemed to be a little understaffed. The food was very good but food was not hot but just warm and the refried beans were very tasty but lukewarm. However, since there are hardly any other restaurants open on Christmas day, this was still a very good experience for the family.

The food was great and we found out that on Mondays, kids eat free when the adults buy an entree. It was a great night out for me and my family. One of the better dining options for me and my vacationing family. We will definitely be back!

The food was fantastic and only second to the service. Our server was amazing. She was on it, had great suggestions, and never let a drink go empty. The food, as always, was 10/10. If you're going around Christmas, get the pantone butter cake...it's worth the calories!
