5 of us enjoyed a lovely well paced meal with attentive service. The meals included pasta dishes, fish zuppa, brisket and pizza - all well prepared and nice portions. Desserts and coffee drinks topped off the evening. This is truly a Santa Cruz treasure.

The ASH Old Fashion was the best I’ve had. Great combo of orange bitters and brown sugar. The short rib appetizer was fantastic as was the fried rice side dish. We also had the oysters on the half shell and Hamachi shooters. They were fresh and good, but not extraordinary. We had fillets and a ribeye. Everything was cooked as ordered. The pomegranate jus/sauce served with my fillet (prime, domestic) was wonderful. We also ordered the F1 fillet and the ribeye. Both were great and the comment on the ribeye was that it was ”among the best I’ve had, very flavorful”. The truffle fries were delicious and arrived perfectly hot. The wine list is extensive, fairly priced and features many of our favorites. Anthony, our server was attentive and engaged in a way that added to our enjoyment of the evening.

We are "the local meeting place" for business and social events in the San Ramon Valley. It is a place where generation after generation of families has come to meet friends and family. It is a place where newcomers to the valley soon become old friends.
The Brass Door, formerly known as the 8/5 Club, was established by Howard Schlesinger in 1946. It was originally a six-stool bar and 20-person dining facility. Schlesinger's son, Mickey, and his partner Dick Basso bought the club in 1955. Soon after, they renamed the club The Brass Door. Over the years, the partners expanded the facility to include a 20-stool bar, 50-seater cocktail lounge and a dining area for 160 guests. Following a brief closure in 1994 due to a fire, the restaurant was rebuilt from its original location.

Everything was wonderful. From the minute we walked in the door. We were greeted by smiling welcoming staff, which was consistent throughout our dinning experience. We had several starters, which are all very good. The duck was fantastic as was the bread with the sweet creamy butter. Perfection. Party of 6 with 3 young children. Service excellent. Kitchen got the kids food out 1st as requested & very quickly—-yes! My salmon moist, underlying roasted veggies very good. Wife had special ravioli (house made pasta!) which she also said was terrific. Will continue coming back.

We were both delighted, so good! Dessert was butter cake with vanilla ice cream & fresh strawberries & blueberries - it was amazing! We were so stuffed. We loved our server, Taylor. She added to the fun, she was very kind & so attentive. She presented my hubby with a slice of chocolate with a candle! Overall the restaurant & staff are inviting with really nice ambiance. Great staff. Very attentive. Nick helped us with a specific wine need and my wife loved it! Food was delicious and we had a good night out. Recommend you round out the night with one of their many delicious desserts!

Mistral’s California cuisine focuses on serving the best local ingredients available. Mistral is a destination restaurant for anniversaries & birthdays, and has an off-the-beaten-path ambiance with year-‘round patio dining and water views, an outdoor fireplace, and plenty of outside heaters. Two private rooms and the covered patio are available for private dining, business dinners, banquets, cocktail parties, weddings, and special events.

We had a great time celebrating Valentine's Day at Mistral - we hadn't been in years and just live down the street. The prix fixe menu was lovely, and there was plenty of choice for us. Food was all well-prepared - I especially enjoyed my lobster risotto, and my husband especially enjoyed his poached pear salad. The service was lovely, too, and we really loved sitting out on the patio by the fireplace and under the heat lamps. Our only comment is that we still find the price to be a bit high. But we still enjoyed ourselves!
