Serving the finest in Northern & Regional Italian Cuisine, La Grotta offers old world charm and friendly, first class service and is located in the heart of Buckhead. A local favorite since 1978, La Grotta has received Best of Atlanta Award from Atlanta magazine since the mid 1980’s, prestigious DiRONA and AAA Four Diamond Awards since the early 90's.
La Grotta is tucked away in the heart of the Buckhead residential district and overlooks the lush gardens of the condo courtyard in which it is located. La Grotta literally means "the cave" in Italian and was named such for its cavernous and warm setting. A restaurant that triumphs in taste over trend, Hal's is not the typical highbrow restaurant so often equated with food of this quality. It is a place of white table cloths, flowers, warm brick, & candlelight.

For appetizers, the tuna tartare, beef ravioli & beet salad were outstanding. I enjoyed the shaken beef & garlic noodles. My family had the duck & chicken, they loved it. Great ambience although a bit pricey. They validate parking.

Very cool and great experience for a first timer! The atmosphere was great and very relaxing but energetic! We went on a Thursday night and the place was very packed in a good way! There was a live saxophone musician and a singer. The food was really good and the table side carbonara was fantastic!

Everything was so yummy and the place was fun and our waitress took great care of us which was not easy! The place was packed. We did not love being placed by the front door/ curtain opening on a chilly night! Even with a heater behind us I was cold

Caleb was phenomenal. Unobtrusive, but still very present. If you want to enjoy your meal without feeling rushed, come early. Coursing was perfect after we asked to slow it down. Value has slightly declined, but Umi will always be a favorite in Atlanta. A5 Wagyu Roll was a complete miss this time, but everything else was phenomenal. The Otoro Caviar is a must try!
