Made the trek-up after a day of skiing at Boyne Mtn. Restaurant was quiet...for a Saturday night. Menu is small (off-season?), but clever. Some of the "main plates" don't match the price tag, but we were on vacation and didn't care. Chef brought out a complimentary dessert for our party...thank you sir. Our server, Emily was very nice.

As always, my experience at Spring&Porter was flawless. I’ll remain forever grateful to Chef Tommy and his amazing staff for taking the risk and opening our first and only restaurant that doesn’t make one feel lousy when you get the tab. This area is not known for its food. Pizza, burger joints abound. The few Asian inspired eatery’s are easy to forget. One and done. From the moment you enter Spring&Porter, a sense of warmth ensues. The lighting is wonderful. Soft yet not too dark. Don’t know about you all, but I love booth seating. Then there’s the bar. First of all it’s so pretty. The bartender is a true professional and is well versed in all cocktails. The wine list is well above average in interesting. And then there’s the music. Wonderful. Not too loud. The parking lot is worth mentioning as no matter where you land, it’s a short walk to the front door. I could go on and on, but this is enough for now. Next time I’ll go over each dish as I’ve had them all. Happy New Year to all. Treat yourself kindly and eat well.

First time in their “wine cellar”… perfect for small or large groups. Dinner - as always - was wonderful. Spicy tuna sushi, crab cakes, split that Caesar salad and hubby had the halibut. Everything was perfect - server was wonderful as well. Yes- we’ll be back!

We typically go for the burgers. They are quite delicious. And the specialty cocktails are amazing. Maybe next time I will try something new, or not!

Great food and wine selection. Service was slow but there didn’t seem to be enough staff.

Discover Petoskey

For those interested in a tour of American cuisine history, Petoskey is the place to go. Nineteenth-century buildings still stand, repurposed for the modern age with countless small restaurants offering various cuisine experiences. For breakfast, try pancakes and eggs supported by ample pieces of bacon. Lunch could be fresh perch covered in a rich batter amply applied, accompanied by hush puppies and a zippy coleslaw. The tartar sauce is a fresh homemade dill concoction that is unknown elsewhere. Finish your American cuisine day with dinner, beginning with a buffalo cauliflower appetizer and an entree of a 9-ounce lobster tail, buttered and covered in a smooth garlic sauce. Move on to a prime rib steak with a unique horseradish dip and mashed potatoes covered in wholesome prime rib gravy.
