As the first uptown New York location for legendary chef Nobu Matsuhisa, we opened with much anticipation in the summer of 2005.Nobu's co-owners are his longtime partners: renowned restaurateur Drew Nieporent, Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro, and Hollywood film producer Meir Teper. The restaurant showcases Nobu's signature new style Japanese cuisine with classic dishes such as Tiradito Nobu Style and Black Cod Miso. The restaurant received three stars from the New York Times.

10:15pm reservation and didn’t get seated until close to 11pm. Crowd of people waiting at the door to be seated with the same issues. Then it felt like we were rushed to place our orders. Food wasn’t brought out at the same time. Drinks took long to get. Worst experience I’ve had at Nobu.

Food was good but service poor. From start till end. One waiter (Japanese) was great, the others had. Had to wait till table was easy (although we arrived on time). Then it was extremely cold (many people complaining) and no action was taken. Food was rushed and too much pressure. Went to many Nobu restaurants around the world but this was worst experience ever. Of course the cost was high, but that is ok for Nobu quality and the food was good but the service destroyed the evening especially the fact that it was freezing cold and no action was taken.

Solo diner here- I came in on Valentine’s Day to enjoy a meal & drinks at the sushi bar. I came in with a big coat on and was not offered coat check on the first floor which I thought was odd. I walked upstairs and met the host on the second floor who was very accommodating in asking if I’d like for him to take it down. I was guided to the bar and understood the delays since it was a big holiday. After receiving my appetizers I was told the kitchen was going to close and that if I wanted to order more food there was service downstairs. I rush ordered but everything was delicious including the drinks. I just wish I would’ve had more time because I wanted to order more food. The servers were great and super attentive. My only regret is the time slot I reserved. Would dine again.

The only reason I withheld a star was because the hosting staff wasn’t on their A game. They were having an issue with a security guard at the building next door & were too wrapped up in that to greet us & instruct us accordingly on going upstairs.

Five Stars – A Truly Exceptional Experience From start to finish, dining at Nobu in New York was an absolute treat. The atmosphere is sleek yet inviting, the service is top-notch, and the food—simply incredible.

Nobu Fifty Seven is and will always be my favorite spot to dine in the city. The service is unreal; water glasses refilled without ever having to ask, empty plates taken from the table before you even notice your table scraps are gone, waiters checking in on you often but not too often where it feels overwhelming, I could go on and on. The chicken teriyaki is one of the most phenomenal dishes I have ever had and no restaurant can make it even close to Nobu. I had the pleasure last evening of meeting the manager who was nothing short of inviting and accommodating. I will always, always return to Nobu Fifty Seven.

The black cod butter lettuce was so delicious. We had the lunch bento box and hamachi tacos. Everything was well prepared and the presentation was impeccable.

Food and service was excellent. Only minus would be the tables are close together so not a lot of privacy.
