They were understaffed . We were on time for our reservation. The host told us there were 4 other parties ahead of us . Had to wait 20 minutes for our table . Did not have a bartender available as there was another event going on . Waited another 1/2 hour to get our appetizer. Everything else was late for a price fixed menu . Many other people were noticeably upset . Not a good evening for a valentines special dinner .

Entered restaurant to manager/hostess asking how are you without making eye contact while looking at computer said good how are you back and her response was ugh I ve been better. 35 minute wait on a reservation with no offer of anything while waiting-beverage/bread. Good food but served Luke warm. Risotto was undercooked not Al dente but hard and crunchy in center. Server was emotionally flat not hiding her contempt and tiredness at all. Valentines meal with a jazz show in next room and attendees of that show having to pass through dining by table to access bathrooms. No parking in lot forced luckily driving suv forced to drive through snow bank and park in ice almost fell. Will not return and definitely not recommend for a special occasion. So many better options

I won't mention the secret to our special evening, but it was due to the delightful hostess and the wait service. A really lovely dinner.

A friend and I had lunch at the Old Lyme Inn during a long weekend at the Connecticut shore. The building is charming and historic, across the street from the Florence Griswold Museum. The staff was friendly and welcoming. It was a cold day, and they seated us for in a table for two by the fire. The service was attentive but unobtrusive. The food was delicious, and the servings were generous. Lunch at the Old Lyme Inn was one of the highlights of a memorable winter weekend.
