   Spur of the moment reservation, online at 6pm and got 7:45 reservation. We went for pupu and drinks. The Roy’s Old fashioned is pretty good. We ordered the canoe for two, which was great. The order of Ahi sashimi was kinda small but ono. Also ordered the Ahi 20 sushi, and that was ono too. Finished with the Sweet bread pudding, perfect. Sorry, I forgot to take pictures. We had a really nice time and good food for great date night.

   Every single employee there were tentative polite. They went out of their way to talk to you and make you feel like family manager on duty stopped and talked to us and stayed a bit was very cordial, and the food was amazing. If it would've been earlier, we would've had an amazing view on top of it.

   Our reservation was well handled for a surprise birthday gathering for my wife. Our table was near the service area so it was pretty noisy, and we could not have been further from the perfectly timed sunset view (although I did not ask for window seating). The food was excellent -- tasty and well presented. My half-size salmon portion looked to be almost as large as my brother's full serving. The kitchen forgot one of the sides for my plate, but our server quickly got that filled once I pointed it out. He also forgot my brother's after-dinner coffee request; but once reminded, promptly brought one out. My Roy's signature chocolate souffle dessert served warm fulfilled all my chocolate dreams: spectacular! Wine, water, and coffee refills were watched attentively, and we were not rushed even though it was a busy Saturday evening. Overall staff were friendly, courteous, and seemed to really enjoy their work.

   I made reservation months ago to celebrate Xmas with family. The setting is lovely but we waited almost an hour for our first plate of Arancini which was very dry. The salad was ok and nothing special and our dinner was almost 1.5 hours after arrival. The server apologized for the delay and he never refilled my grandson’s soda, I had to request it. The evening meal for 3 with a bottle of wine was almost $500 and I truly left disappointed. I could have eaten a better meal anywhere else in Oahu for half the price, tastier food and better service.

   Hard to beat Roy’s HK food and service. It was on the expensive, also seems like there was surcharge on everything since it was Christmas

   We arrived at the reservation time but had to wait about 15 minutes waiting for a table to be prepared. The service was terrific. Slight negatives with the food: My wife's fish was too salty. Fish was fresh but the soy sauce was overwhelming. I ordered my favorite macadamia nut encrusted mahi mahi but disappointed they seem to have cut back on the amount of macadamia bits so it lost some of the macadamia nut flavor and crunchiness. All in all though, still a good experience and I would go back again.

   Roy’s is all that is promised. For anyone drawn to cuisine experiences, a pilgrimage to Roy’s is a must! To do so at the original Roy’s is to begin at the beginning. From the edamame to the pineapple upside down cake, our dining experience was a joy. Experienced talented staff and a wonderful chat with the manager created an experience that we cannot wait to reproduce! Run…don’t walk…to the Original Roy’s Hawaii Kai!
