Small and romantic we specialize in celebrations with family and friends, or just a quiet dinner with good conversation. We are family owned and operated and have been serving our community since 2001.

Drive in to Opera Alley and be transported. We strive to bring approachable food and beverage, a sense of comfort and community, as well as a unique and quality dining experience. We call ourselves a "cafe" in the sense that we are not pretentious and offer a fine dining experience in an atmosphere of comfort and respite.

Parking in Opera Alley, and downtown, can be a bit of a challenge, especially on the weekends, so please be sure to give yourself plenty of time when making reservations to find a parking space, or consider a night off from driving and get an Uber or Lift!! Eat good food often, break bread with friends and family, spend time with those you love, and we will see you soon.

We had a great time and the service was a step above. Appetizers came out and presented well and tasted amazing (Shrimp, and also crab bisque). The sourdough bread was also very fresh. On to the entrees ( Ribeye steak and Duck Breast and as a side we also got lobster Mac). The lobster mac was very good. Not a huge fan of the duck, felt like eating raw meat and very chewy. The steak had lots of flavor but also had lots of fat on it, about 30% of the steak was fat. But was prepared to medium per server recommendation because of the fat, which we usually like medium rare . The sides that came with our meals were made perfectly. All in all I give it about a 6 out of 10 score.

I'm very disappointed in how this experience turned out. I expressed to the waitress that I didn't eat red meat or seafood, and the waitress suggested the chicken cacciatore. I don't eat mushrooms either but she assured that they could be picked out. Our dishes came and the mushrooms were so incorporated into the sauce there was no way I was going to be able to pick them out. On top of that, the chicken was dark meat. I always expect a high end restaurant to have white meat chicken, especially for an Italian dish. I was not happy about that either, and couldn't even eat it. On top of that, my partner's lasagna was literally a big puddle of oil with a glob of cheese on top. A gut bomb for sure. He didn't complain, but I told her I couldn't eat my dish and she said she talked to the chef and he wouldn't give me any sort of compensation or alternative. For being a high end restaurant, they sure don't prioritize their customers' satisfaction. This was our one fancy dinner out for Valentine's Day. Very very disappointed I was treated this way. I will never go back there again unfortunately.

We dined at Over the Moon for Valentines Day. From start to finish, the experience delivered everything we hoped for when we booked the reservation. We started w/ the clams, waldorf salad, and bisque. Clams: Smaller starter packed w/ flavor. Perfect way to start the evening. The fresh sourdough bread dipped in the clam broth was quite enjoyable. Waldorf salad: The beat/ parsnip puree in this salad was phenomenal and paired beautifully w/ the frisee, walnuts, and pickled fruits. Bisque: Light, refined, and filled w/ crab. Saved some sourdough for dipping and basically scraped the bowl clean. For mains, we had the duck breast and lobster mac and cheese. Duck: Perfectly cooked, crispy skin, unctuous cherry reduction. The side mashers and veg paired well. Lobster Mac: Very filling. Lobster chunks were apparent is nearly every single bite. To finish the meal, we enjoyed the lemon posset, which provided the perfect ending to an outstanding meal. Light, refreshing, and topped w/ a to-die-for strawberry sauce. Wish I had another right now. We always love our dining experiences at Over the Moon and this one was no exception. Needless to say, we'll be back sooner rather than later.

Over the Moon has been consistent for years: excellent food, wonderful ambiance, and friendly, caring staff. We are thrilled that with the new changes in ownership, all of its incredible attributes remain. The new owner is marvelous, personable and exhibits the caring nature of a committed chef. Over the Moon remains a highly desired dining location.

We were amazed such attention to detail! Warm, cozy, great music right level it was her anniversary and they put rose petals on our table. There was a book of poems a chest full of comments to read through from other customers. The coffee was French press serve served at the table the prawn appetizer was grilled to perfection with a delicious sauce. Perfect French bread their house specialty lasagna was amazing and so was the crab bisque absolutely the best anniversary dinner I've ever had such a quaint spot in opera Alley and a beautiful walk to the Pantages theater.

If you want a New York kind of dining experience in Tacoma, I suggest Over the Moon Cafe. Small establishment hidden on a quiet street with privacy at every table. Reminded us of the great steak houses of NY. You won't be disappointed.
