Founded in 1913, this family-run, Italian-Creole restaurant is located in uptown New Orleans. It is famous for creating barbecued shrimp.

This neighborhood restaurant is vintage New Orleans, from the service to the decor. The oyster bar is always manned by a friendly shucker. The oysters are fresh, salty, and delicious.

The old time oyster bar and cocktail bar offers raw oysters on the half shell and all types of cocktails. We offer fine seafood, Italian specialties, and delicious steaks.

In 2023, Dickie Brennan & Co. welcomed Pascal's Manale into their restaurant family.

They were grossly understaffed Food was warm at best and bland They were out of several dishes First time eating here as the reviews were pretty decent and will be the last Maybe because it was thanksgiving day and short staffing or if that is the normal staffing they need more help When your main menu items are Italian they should be rock star not watered down

First time at this historic New Orleans restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner with family. We had the "traditional" turkey day feast which limited our choices. They had 2 kinds of stuffing: oyster or pork. Our vegetarian family members were not pleased. They didn't ask for our preference of white or dark meat, so some of us ended up swapping our plates. We had to ask for rolls and butter and cranberry sauce. The cranberry sauce had the consistency of soup - very runny. The plate came with a giant pile of mashed sweet potatoes that were tasty, but took up too much of the meal. Also on the plate, a soupy white "sauce" with under cooked string beans. It tasted OK. They served the turkey and stuffing with gravy already on it, and there was not very much of it. Deserts were also limited to two choices - bread pudding or a lemon pudding. Neither was very interesting. All in all, it was a disappointing meal.

Granted, it was thanksgiving and busy. The hostess seemed confused upon check-in. Long wait between seating and drink orders and menu distribution. Confusion regarding who was our server. Started with manager(?) dressed in rust colored pants but apparently he left and there was a debate about who would serve us. Food was COLD and had to be sent back. Waiter told us what he didn’t have for dessert rather than what he did. I’m ashamed to say this was a disaster. DICKIE should have been there. Over-extended?

I went for their “special” Thanksgiving dinner. It’s a fixed price menu, including a choice of one of two desserts. I went at 4:30 PM, so it’s not as though they were nearing the end of the evening. To begin, they made me feel like a leper because I was dining alone on Thanksgiving. Yes, I get it. I was alone on Thanksgiving. Boo hoo. But, don’t rub it in. Next, the thanksgiving meal was awful. I mean simply awful. Execrable. So, so bad. The turkey was tough and dry. You could drink the cornbread dressing through a straw. Seriously, it must have been puréed. No white potatoes at all. As bad as it was, I figured OK at least there’s pecan pie. Except they were out of pecan pie. How do you offer pie in your Thanksgiving menu and run out by 5 PM? There are only two options offered: bread pudding and pecan pie. Did they ever have it in the first place? I’ve been to this once-esteemed restaurant several times in the years since it changed hands and it was lousy on each visit. I figured “no one can screw up Thanksgiving dinner.“ Apparently, you can. Time to throw in the towel on Manale’s. Shame, Dickie! Shame.

Excellent menu . You can eat healthy or you can can really over do it since there are so many choices . We love the onion rings and the fried eggplant with marinara sauce . The redfish special with their signature barbecue shrimp was superb . Manales is my “ go to” restaurant and will continue to go there .

Had lunch reservations on a Tuesday. Not crowded. Service a bit slow as we waited to get menus and drinks when those who arrived later than us had service. Once we had a waiter all was good. Food excellent.

Wallpaper peeling off the wall - dirty tablecloth & carpet - untrained staff - inedible food. Veal Piccata tasted like bottled lemon juice - Marsala was sugary - Barbecue Shrimp sauce was watery and fishy tasting. Oysters Rockefeller & Bienville just weren’t good. We had such high hopes for this place with new ownership by Dickie Brennan, but it was horrible.

Disappointing would be generous. We have been here several times before, but not recently. We always stop here when in New Orleans and had looked forward with great anticipation to this return visit. We had a great server, but that is all I can say good. We always have barbecued shrimp, their signature dish. Perhaps because we chose the option of peeled and detained shrimp, we were served a bowl of smallish shrimp in a broth lacking in both taste and mouth feel. I don't know if something has changed in the recipe, but it was not nearly up to our memories. At lunch, the dining room was so noisy that the conversation was painful. I doubt we will return, and we will try to erase this meal from our memory.

Sadly our rating does not match the recommendations we received nor the online reviews nor the photos from the stars. Food was NOT hot at all and barely warm which is not great for Italian. Meatball was awful tasted like a ball of overcooked burger.
