   Lovely country pub with roaring fire! Sunday lunch was one of the best I’ve had! A little wait but it was worth it as it’s cooked freshly! Can’t praise it high enough! Definitely go back!

   Terrible service. Dinner came out after our starters within 1 minute - with no cutlery replacement in the interim. Which we had to ask for as wasn’t spotted. Table service, but had to ask if we could order more drinks. Generally didn’t feel looked after at this point at all. Asked for steak to be cooked medium. It was over & awful & the prawns were cold. I sent it back - and the steak came out perfectly the second time, but as I was with friends, they had finished their dinner a long time before my food came out again. The service all the way through this was down right rude. Especially a lady with blonde hair. She did not listen, she had attitude & was in no way kind or helpful. When I asked for my prawns & peppercorn sauce to be taken off the bill £9), as I figured it was a fair gesture given I had gone out for dinner with friends & ended up eating alone. You would have thought I asked for 50% off the entire bill - her response was shocking. Pub was lovely & the rest of the staff seemed polite & helpful. And food overall was good. But overall ruined by inedible steak & awful service.

   Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. As our dishes are all cooked fresh, the chef's prepare the main when starter's go out so there isn't a wait in between courses. We can request a break between courses when the food is ordered if desired. I'm pleased you were happy with your replacement steak and can only apologise for the wait, but again, all meals are served to order. I am shocked that a member of staff appeared to come across as rude, we get many reviews praising our friendly staff, I'm sorry you feel you didn't get our usual standard of service. I will look in to what happened and deal with it accordingly. I understand that you were given a discount. I hope you will return and give us a chance to rectify any mistakes made on your last visit.    Delicious Sunday lunch. We are in the bar by a lovely open fire with our dog. Staff were friendly and welcome. Very good value

   A warm and very friendly welcome by the young lady behind the bar who also served us our drinks and lunch. Good choice of bar meals, considering it was the 2nd January, not exactly busy for them, there being only three other diners in the bar. We all had the fish and chips, a good pint and some soft drinks..All in all, good pub fayre at a sensible price.

    Unfortunately not good. Booked a slot for New Year's Day lunch, there was only 1 other table but the food still took 50 minutes to come out. We were waiting about 20 minutes for drinks as well. When the food was eventually served, all the portions of chips were cold. They were taken away and brought back just heated up, needless to say they were hard and inedible! My partner ordered the steak, but was told 10 minutes later that 'It couldn't be done' This was quite puzzling to say that we were only the second table ordering! The menu was limited so he asked for the pie instead, but with chips not mash. When it came out, the pie was served with mash! We didn't order dessert as planned as we didn't want to wait another hour. Very expensive for the quality of food and service!
