Best Cozy Restaurants in Ferndale

Roe is delightful! The building is great, the service was friendly, and the food was exceptional. Getting to watch the kitchen do its thing is a pleasure. We were there on a busy Saturday night and my only caveat would be that if loud rooms are an issue for you, I might recommend sitting in the bar. It’s cozy and much quieter than the main restaurant area.

Coming from metro Phoenix which has great food, we have been pleasantly surprised by the many wonderful restaurants in Bellingham. But Carnal is a cut above. Big city vibe, and creative menu. A tad on the pricey side, but well worth it.

We had family from out of town and they'd never been to the Leader Block so we thought it would be a great place to take them for dinner. I did not know it was under new ownership but soon learned Roberto was the new owner. He was wonderful and ultra-entertaining. He has in-depth knowledge of the wines on the wine list and did not steer us wrong. I was the only one who had white wine and Roberto recommended a glass of Anthilia. It was crisp, and delicious and went nicely with the scallops and wild mushroom risotto I ordered. My dinner was great and was a perfect portion size for me. The rest of the gang had red wine. I don't know what they ordered just that they loved it, and one person bought an extra bottle to take home. Two of the people in our group had the Oso Bucco and could not stop raving about it. Another had the cioppino and he said it was outstanding. My husband had the pork loin, and he said it was flavorful but dry. My brother had the Spaghetti Alla Bolognese. He said it was good. All in all, we had a very fun evening and look forward to going back.

We love this Anthony’s restaurant. It has great ambience because of the harbor location. Great food, great service.

Estelle’s is simply great. The food is creative and never fails to impress. The cocktails are simply brilliant. The staff at Estelle’s are friendly, knowledgeable and work as a great team. The size, informality and sense of casual elegance is very appealing. Estelle’s has become our favorite restaurant to take friends to who visit us from out of town and is always a wonderful treat for us too. Nadine, who has been our server the last few times we’ve been there, is outstanding. She a charming and gracious woman who truly enhances the experience of dining. Not to mention her depth of knowledge and experience. Gray, at the bar, is an performer as well as a talented mixologist. The menu at Estelle’s is small, but each dish is so well done and distinctive it is very hard to have a favorite! A new-to-us dish that wowed us on our most recent visit was the ‘chicken liver mousse coastal huckleberry & chive with sunflower sourdough’ omg! We’ll be back soon again and highly recommend it.
