A beautiful restaurant tucked away in an old street - but it is central Oxford. Lovely ambiance. Great quality food. Huge portion of Coq au vin - 3 pieces of chicken. The steak was also well cooked and hearty portion sizes. Not sure about the unmelted butter on top. Starters were good- scallops and smoked trout although the horseradish was a little overpowering for me. Beautiful wines - I enjoyed the carafe of Picpoul and my husband enjoyed a carafe of the house Portugueuse red. We had no room for desserts! Friendly service. We would return for a special night out.

The service was exceptional, thank you Antoine, but the large piece of shell in my daughters (not cheap) Lobster linguine really put a dampener on her experience, especially as it caused pain in her mouth due to not expecting it.

We had great food- perfectly cooked steak and a burger, with two glasses of Shiraz. Excellent service and a much more relaxed and homely feel than a lot of the pub restaurants in the area. Would recommend to everyone.

I love this restaurant, my favourite in Oxford. In the summer the garden is a true delight and in the winter the ambience inside is perfect for a cozy special treat dinner in beautiful surroundings. There is much interesting art work, the menu delicious and the wines excellently chosen. The 500 cc carafe option also perfect if one of you is driving. Every time I go with great expectations and have never been disappointed in any way. This is a restaurant to be highly commended.
