The Plough isn't your average countryside pub. After its purchase and renovation, the Yates family took over the kitchen and opened the pub's small, but proud, restaurant, Bowleys. Head Chef Alex Yates is still very early on in his career but though only in his early twenties, he has already spent two years in the kitchens at The Goring Hotel in London, as well as having gained experience with Rick Stein and even once cooking for the Queen. I’ve been to maddogs & Englishman quite a few times over the last year and every single time I go, I have such a brilliant experience with all the different themes that they go for. I’m never disappointed and always thoroughly enjoy it. I think my friend and I will be making a yearly visit!!!

I love the clubby relaxed feel of this place, so it easily wins 5 stars for ambience. The service is great - typical top end London chic. But the surprise is the food. The menu doesn’t look exciting but the finished product certainly is. From the chicken salad stater through the pork belly mash with black pudding mash to the way better then normal cheese board, it was a perfect place to work through a few excellent bottles of wine whilst putting the world to rights!
