Masuya Restaurant is located in a building, which has been designated as a cultural asset, on O’Connell Street in Sydney. This is the same place as the office of Kanematsu Gosho, the pioneer of Australia – Japan trades, was situated in 1980. Masuya Restaurant opened in 1993, then full renovation was implemented in 2006.The approx. five meters long sushi counter, designed by architect Robert Toland in ‘kabuki red’ with an idea of the stage of kabuki, has since fascinated not only local Australian customers but also various people with different backgrounds.A showcase displays more than 20 different sushi ingredients everyday including locally produced fish, which is purchased on the day.     Had an absolutely exceptional, fabulous, gorgeous time with my friends here today. Dining in the cellar room felt like we had gone back in time. A nice feel of classy casual. The level of service was fantastic, with designated friendly waiters continually checking in and keeping us hydrated. The starter/share plates and cocktails were so tasty. Fuss free, and quaint. I look forward to going back.

    Great service on a busy Valentines Day, the staff were attentive at the right times. We enjoyed ceviche, steak, roast peppers and more with a bottle of Semillon, and finished with desserts. Everything was shareable and we didn’t feel rushed out of an early dining time (6:30).

    The perfect place to celebrate Valentine's Day. The chef put together an amazing array of Aussie delicacies that made this visit quite an experience. The staff treated us like royalty. And the views just can't be beat anywhere in the world!
