Afternoon Tea at the Harbour Loft on St Michael’s Mount is the perfect way to celebrate a special occasion or complete a visit to this enchanting island. Head Chef Greg Milne has created a menu inspired by fresh Cornish produce to be enjoyed on our unique island setting, with sea views north and the backdrop of the castle to the south.Precisely-cut sandwiches are accompanied by freshly-baked cakes and pastries; while traditional treats boast creative twists. Choose from an extensive selection of Tregothnan tea or add a little fizz with a glass of sparkling wine, produced in a Cornish vineyard just a stone’s throw from the Mount. When you book, please see the website for information about how to access the island as it varies between walking a cobbled tidal causeway and booking a boat, depending on the tide: https://stmichaelsmount.co.uk/plan-your-visit/opening-times-2023-24/Polite notice: our restaurant only serves Afternoon Tea and we do not take pre-payment.

This cafe is turning out phenomenal dishes that truly celebrate the ingredients - even the chips - which are heavenly earthy, piping hot and flavourful. I started with roast sardines with a smattering of finely chopped garlic and I was wondering if the garlic might overpower the natural tangyness of these flawless fish. Not a bit! The balance was perfect and the flavours just sang in the mouth. I loved the starter choices so much that I ordered another for my main which I had with the heavenly chips. Blue cheese and pears with Parma ham. Incredible! Just the right amount of each ingredient. Yes! I scraped the plate. Finally, I finished with apple crumble tart with clotted cream. The pleasantly acidic pool of berries calmed the natural, perfectly pitched sweetness of the apple tart. I would have preferred a small jug of custard but hey, we’re in Cornwall so the clotted cream sat beautifully on top and gave the dish a velvety texture. Staff were warm, friendly and knowledgeable. I had a large bottle of fizzy water and my bill was around £40. The price reflects the quality of ingredients which were top notch.

We are regular diners at The Ugly Butterfly however due to illness, had not been able to go for a few months so it was wonderful to 'be back' and we had a wonderful time. Amazing food, fantastic service with the most beautiful view too. Asked what our favourite dish of the way was, impossible to say as it was all excellent.

This is a lovely looking picturesque restaurant with great food. The servers were lovely, but the time taken to deliver either drinks or food was poor. We sat for at least 30 minutes awaiting the first order of drinks, and no water for the table was offered. This was while the restaurant was not very full, and you could say was quiet at the time of our order. Maybe the bar maid/barista needs to learn to speed up the process. This is a lovely venue, but the length of time waiting for service leaves a lot to be desired

We thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas High Tea! From the first moment the staff were so friendly and welcoming, we were seated at a lovely table. They catered for our dietary requirements with ease, everything was delicious, we were in heaven. There was plenty to choose from and it was all fantastic quality. Your pastry chef is obviously very talented. The presentation of the hight tea was lovely and it really didn't disappoint, we couldn't find fault. The only thing I would say is that we should be able to add a tip if paying by card as your staff deserve one for their amazing service.
