The White Horse is a delightful old pub in Hatching Green. Five minutes from the bustling centre of Harpenden on the one hand and Junction 9 of the M1 on the other, the pub has a lovely country setting, surrounded by a large leafy garden and terrace.The bar is warm and cosy, with old parquet and low beams hung with antique copper jugs, while the dining room is light & fresh, its French windows opening onto a sunny terrace.     There is a lovely cosy atmosphere in this quaint historic place. Staff are very welcoming and accomodating - we had our two young daughters with us. The food was excellent -great quality, taste and portion size. I had kipper croquettes and the chalk stream trout, both delicious. Deserts are always great, plum crumble and Bramley apple cheesecake are highly recommended.

    The warmest welcome in St Albans! The staff are so friendly and accommodating, the food is never less than excellent and the price is amazing. I love the linen napkins and weighty cutlery, the sumptuous Tudor touches in the dining room and the wide selection of soft drinks on offer. 3 of us ate today, for less than £100. Value, luxurious touches and homey attentions to detail, what’s not to love? We’ll be back soon.

    We arrived on Sunday around 5.30pm to a bustling restaurant. The atmosphere was great - busy but not too loud, happy staff keen to make our visit good and importantly, delicious food. We’re booking for next week!
