Poggio is a classic Italian trattoria with comfortable neighborhood charm and destination-caliber cuisine. Created by Larry Mindel, who also founded numerous other restaurants in the Bay Area and beyond, Poggio has been ranked among the very best Italian restaurants since it opened. Led by Executive Chef and Partner Ben Balesteri, Poggio’s daily changing menus use the best available local ingredients including dishes inspired by the seasonal bounty of our local farmers, ranchers and fishermen and the traditional methods of Italy, including wood-fired ovens, house made pastas from scratch and a wide variety of dishes serving guests breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We’re honored to have been awarded a Bib Gourmand distinction by the Michelin guide in 2017, 2018, and along with being named Best Italian restaurant in Marin County by Marin Magazine in 2021.

Great experience. Needs a new hostess who was unable to say hello or you’re welcome. That’s the easiest part of the job.

The atmosphere was really inviting with several cornered off sections, a nice amount of two top tables but the shrimp tagliatelle and the salmon dishes were both good but not great. Service was extremely slow on a Wednesday evening, we ended up waiting 20 min after finishing each dish before the next one arrived which could have been due to limited staff but then the bill was presented before we even asked for it without a question if we wanted something else like an after dinner drink.

We live in Sausalito and haven't been to the restaurant in ages. Had friends in from Palo Alto and had a glorious time. The place was packed and full of holiday cheer. Much fun - many thanks!

Poggio is my go-to restaurant. It never disappoints. The food, the service, the ambiance are all top notch. My return guests from out of town always request at least one meal at Poggio. First timers have remarked, “if only we had a restaurant like this back home”. Well done!

The holiday atmosphere second to none The serving staff esp our main server had such a gracious professional manner . The decorations were so impressive putting us all in a festive mood. The meal was simply delicious, each course better than the next Wishing the restaurant continual success
