They always do a nice job at this restaurant. They still have some of the same menu items from the 55 Restaurant group that I worked at back in the early 90s. Front of house did a nice job with reservations with people coming and going and food came out of kitchen quickly. My wife got the 55 salad that she said is better than Rusty Bucket version of it along with the Chicken with Tasso Ham pasta which looked as good as it did from the original recipe. I got the elk, bison and waygu burger and it was great. The onion rings seemed precooked which made them more tough and hard than if fresh. Other than that we enjoyed the dinner.

Overall, it was a pleasant evening we arrived early and were seated right on time. It was New Years Eve and an extremely busy night for restaurants, they were no exception. The service was very good, but we felt they were struggling with the large crowd. The appetizer we ordered was lukewarm but very good. My Short Rib were ok but contained a lot of fat. We enjoyed our evening and as always, will continue frequenting Polarus Grill.

We were there on the New Year’s Eve. It was crowded of course; therefore the sound level is high. Our waiter was very nice. However, when we leaving, we noticed other tables nearby all have bread basket that we don’t have. Not sure whether the bread basket are complementary or not. We don’t remember see it on the menu (means we need to order and pay), though. Regarding the food quality, well, they are just so-so. Generally speaking dishes were little bit on the salty side. Some of the dishes’ presentation was not very attractive , such as the calamari which is using very small dish and looks small. Also my bbq ribs comes with fries those are very short most are only half of regular length. But the bright side is, their wine list is not bad and the wine prices are very competitive in today’s market. $7.5/6 oz, $10/9oz, etc.

We had reservations for NYE, the evening was great. We got our table right on time even though they were very busy. Our Server TJ was friendly and funny. He recommended some fun drinks and provided fast service. Food was good, atmosphere relaxing, not too stuffy, but not overly casual.

We had dinner on NYE and our server was Nick. He was pleasant and attentive. We ordered the French 55 which was the featured cocktail and it was really well balanced. We then ordered the appetizer sampler and it was amazing! We loved all the selections it came with. We got the Salmon Oscar and the Walleye for our entrees, but the fish was overcooked which was disappointing. However the Zucchini Risotto and Red Smashed Potatoes that came with the entrees were outstanding.

Both meals were excellent, and Nick was an ideal server—competent and not at all intrusive, as so many wait people in the U.S. are. Only complaint: restaurant is always drafty, no matter where we sit. A favorite place.

My husband and I love this place however I was disappointed in our last visit. I booked a table for his birthday. Confirmed it was a birthday dinner. Spoke to the front desk on arrival reminding the en it was his birthday and not once did we hear a happy birthday from a single employee. I just think on a service based industry maybe you could be a little more welcoming.
