Today, the Michelin Guide considers him the best young chef in Colorado and awarded one star to his first solo restaurant Alma Fonda Fina. In a light-filled corner space filled with warm ceramics and woven textiles, he puts out soulful and modern Mexican fare—think seared hamachi aguachile, lamb shank birria, and tacos folded with a 12-hour brisket confit.

Join us in our intimate dining room of only 28 seats. We invite guests to relax in a space accented by reclaimed wood, — sourced from the oldest building in Denver — clay-inspired wall treatment, an abundance of plants that evoke the feeling of Mexico City, and artisan finds from Johnny’s home state of Guadalajara.

In lieu of a traditional bar, 8 seats line a fully immersive Chefs’ Counter where guests can connect with the kitchen and watch the team at work. The full menu is served at the Chefs' Counter.

Easy to understand why this restaurant has received many rewards and 5-Star Ratings. The food was both delicious and fun. The spices, sauces, and flavor combinations were great! The team of servers were efficient and friendly. Even parking was easy. Highly recommend.

The food was amazing! The chefs were all very nice and explained everything thoroughly. We sat at the chefs counter and loved the experience. We already want to go back! The sweet potatoes dish was just beyond what I’d ever expect!

Our experience overall was good. The ambiance was quaint, but the tables a little too close. Overall, the food was wonderful. I was disappointed in the guacamole, I have had much better. I would definitely come back and recommend , Rajas Con Crema, Scallops, Mole chicken, Pastor taco and Halibut. All were wonderful!!

Incredible experience. We dined at Limosneros in Mexico City last year and were hoping for something similar, Alma met all expectations and then some!

Our first time to Alma Fonda Fina, was a wonderful experience. We had several small plates and everything was incredible. Full of unique flavors and very exciting to the palate. Our server was very attentive and had made some great recommendations. The sourdough tortillas were spot on and more were offered complimentary. The sweet potato Camote Asado was our favorite ! We will definietly be back!

Although food is interesting, the place is very smoky—our coats and sweater are now saturated with the smell. The ventilation system definitely needs improvement!

One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had, and I’ve been to a few. IMO you must get the sweet potato, sourdough tortillas (comes with the frijoles puerco), scallops, halibut, emmoladas, and birria. The tacos suadero was good, but nothing to write home about. I’d definitely visit again!
