Named one of 20 Best New Restaurants in America for 2024 By Bon Appetit!

In a distant European city, Fabian and Miriam vanished into the Alps, trading their city lives for mountain solitude. Once busy young professionals, their days were consumed by demanding careers, their rare weekends cherished for dining out and dancing, occasionally venturing into the mountains.

But destiny intervened when Miriam inherited her grandfather's Alpine hut, nestled amidst the rustic charms of the mountains. They cut ties with the city, forsaking it for good. Days were spent farming, foraging, crafting cheese, and making wine. Nights brought cooking, baking, wine-drinking, and stargazing.

Friends from the city visited, but Fabian and Miriam never looked back. They were drawn deeper into the mountains, caught in the Alpenrausch's dual meaning—the exhilaration of mountain air and the intoxication of good company, fine wine, and schnapps.

Great fondue. Has a nice but subtle wine tang to it. Came with many options to dip. Smoke trout was delicious. A bit pricy. Overall, good vibe.

Fine dining price, Olive Garden vibes. Wine selection has some unique offerings. The venison was 🔥. Appetizers were pitifully portioned (comically so. They weren't even shareable).

They have a 20% service charge - but there's no service. 85 minutes after we were seated we got one starter. Mains came out tepid and 2 at a time for a table of 5. The roasted quail had 2 quail legs- that's it - for $32. I asked for water and got the reply of "I'm just a bartender." The dessert menu has 3 items, all with hazelnuts. I'm stunned that this is a top 25 in the US by food and wine. Portland has no shortage of great restaurants. This is not one of them.

The drinks were good and all the food was tasty, but there was nothing particularly unique or outstanding about any of it. Total bill for two (with the included 3% cost of living and automatically included 20% gratuity) was $230, which felt pretty steep. Nothing was bad, just nothing rave worthy, IMO.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience! We ordered cocktails and then tried out the tasting menu, which did not disappoint. Our server recommended a lovely young red wine. Everything was great!
