This place never disappoints! We had two excellent entrees (chicken parm and manicotti), a nice Caprese salad and great desserts (tiramisu and pana cotta). The food is always great here - no matter what we have had. It was New Year's Eve (early) and the place was busy, but not over the top. We have been here when it's busy and the service suffered...that was decidely not the case this time. The only negative was our server was not very attentive. He didn't completely ignore us, but could have sold us at least 1 more drink. He also failed to remove dirty plates from our table on numerous trips past us. I know they have other team members that do that (we had one that brought water and bread, a different person bussed on occasion, our server and a food runner!), but anyone walking past our table seeing dirty dishes that are obviously no longer being eaten from should remove them - even if it isn't "their job". The main dining room is always a bit loud, but all in all, a very good meal.

Avanzare is always excellent. The food is always top-quality, equal to any place in the city. The service is attentive but not-rushed...very European.

They have a good menu with items you don't always see. Our service was a little slow but that didn't seem to be the case with everyone. We would go back to try some of the other menu items

The ambiance at Avanzare was very nice, especially with all of the holiday decorations. They have a great bar area with lots of seating. Service was great. Unfortunately, the food was a little disappointing compared to other Italian restaurants we've been to. I doubt that the Caesar dressing had any anchovy paste in it, which is standard in authentic Caesar salad dressing. The Cavatelli Vodka lacked flavor. My dad did not like the marinara sauce at all. My husband did like his chicken marsala and said it was not too sweet. Overall, the concensus was that we are more inclined to return to Maggiano's or Rosebud's in the future.
