Balboa Surf Club is an upscale American restaurant in the heart of Uptown, Houston, located in Post Oak Plaza. The menu places an emphasis on fresh seafood from around the country, including a curated sushi program, as well as salads, hearty sandwiches, a standout hamburger, and hand-cut steaks.

An enjoyable evening last night at Balboa Surf Club. The kind attention and courtesy provided by our Server, Jamel, was the primary basis for the rating. Food was quite good.

The service could have been better. There were 4 of us dining. Three of us received our cocktails and it took another 10 minutes for our 4th person to receive theirs. I ordered the $49 crab cake, which is delicious. I ate half of it because I wanted to take the other half home for lunch. The server dropped the crab cake on the floor while boxing it up to go. She said she would replace it but instead the manager sent over chocolate cake to the table. We did not want the chocolate cake. I wanted my crab cake. This could have been handled much better.

Excellent restaurant. 5/5 in all areas. Had the Miso Salmon and it was some of the best tasting Salmon I’ve had in a long time. My guest enjoyed their meal as well. Staff is very friendly and everything was served in a timely manner. Best dining experience I’ve had in Houston so far.
