The neighbourhood Italian restaurant you’ve always dreamed of, Bar Prima features a luxurious atmosphere that evokes a sense of timelessness and nostalgia. The restaurant design captures an old-school charm with dimly lit ambiance, creating an elevated and elegant atmosphere. From Italian disco inspired music to vintage design touches, Chefs Craig Harding and Julian D’Ippolito have curated a space that feels as though it’s been there forever.

Bar Prima can at times feel opulent with its banquets and table lamps but can also feel relaxed and romantic. We seek to share our passion for food, beverage and hospitality, creativity and design with our open-minded guests!

Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: Julian D'Ippolito

From the OpenTable editors: With its arched gold leaf ceiling, royal blue accents and marble inlay floor, Bar Prima is a stunner from the moment you step inside. The restaurant menu, built on refined Italian-American dishes like spaghetti all’amatriciana and veal chop marsala, delivers equal wow factor. For drinks, the wine list steals the show, spanning from Italian classics to offbeat natural bottles.

Our party was admittedly late. They accommodated. Very cool space. Drink service was quite slow. Food was ok. Service was ok. We expected something better. Would I recommend? Probably not. Sorry folks. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Lovely Service, Beautiful Ambiance, Delicious Food! This is one of the best meals I have ever had in Toronto and many places that I’ve traveled! Every bite was succulent, flavorful, delicious with all the flavours and nothing over the top over the top! Everything was perfectly cooked! Nothing was overly greasy or overly cheesy like many other restaurants I’ve been to in Toronto! The small bite at the beginning, the lobster pasta, the gnocchi, and the sides and ofcourse our desserts were all so delicious! The 3 of us loved our whole experience at Bar Prima! The service was excellent! Our server was the perfect balance in every way you could think of. She was friendly, honest and explained everything perfectly! I think her name was Allysa?(sorry I wish I could remember) We can’t wait to go back and we will be telling all our friends about the fabulous experience we had at Bar Prima!

Loved the food- every dish we got was amazing. Portion sizes were good too, not too small, not too big. Service was great and a great vibe, even for a Sunday

Fantastic service. Good cocktails and wine list. Meal was quite good but I think a little overpriced for what you’re getting. Vibes are immaculate.

We had a good meal here. The room is gorgeous and the menu has some really interesting choices for modern Italian. This was my third time; I had previously been 2x when it was first opened and had such a 5 star experience then, that I really wanted to try it again. Would say the starters and pastas are the shining moment. Service was a bit slow to our table (opposite of my previous experiences). We waited a long time with nothing in front of us to order and be served (others seemed to have better so maybe just us). The music got so loud by 8:30 we couldn’t hear across the table. Seemed like over the past year it has shifted to more of a Friday night club vibe which is perfectly fine, but wasn’t for us. I want to be careful to give credit where credit is due but honest as well.

I highly recommend the unique appetizer Liver Maritozzi ($22), and the flavourful entree Ossobucco Milanese ($55).

Amazing experience, ambience, decoration, the staff super friendly and they are happy to give you the recommendations based on your preference. The food portions are suitable to share, and really liked everything. Now is on of my favourite spots in town.
