Beauty & Essex has an innovative design that starts in the restaurant’s entrance, a well-curated modern-day pawn shop replete with a saxophone, boom­box, quirky artifacts, vintage treasures, and an eclectic array of “one-off” pieces of jewelry. Continuing past the pawnshop, guests encounter a grand, circular staircase wrapped around a two-story custom chandelier, but only the adventurous will discover all that Beauty & Essex has to offer. With four distinct dining rooms (one private), two bars, a lounge, and a women’s bathroom complete with a salon including a luxurious sofa, and antique perfume bottles. The cuisine, much like the design, is intended to set a new course. Chef Chris Santos was one of the pioneers of the small, share plate dining trend that has swept the nation, and with the Beauty & Essex menu, he once again has created waves on the food scene.

    Great decor and atmosphere but that's about it. The food was awful. The beef wellington was tough, the Peruvian chicken was too salty. The best dish is the Mac and cheese. We were told that it was tapas style food and to order between 4-6 dishes. The dishes were huge and not tapas style at all so it meant that we had over ordered which meant our meal was more expensive than it needed to be. We won't be coming back

    The menu and venue are tired. The place used to be buzzing and had a fun vibe to it. That is not the case any more. The service however was fabulous. So, that was refreshing.

    Whilst the food was great and the ambience in the restaurant was exceptional, we booked weeks ago for 9pm, arrived on time and were only provided a table at 9:40pm, once we sat down we were asked to order everything for all of our courses asap, as the kitchen closes at 10pm. We felt rushed because of the restaurants delay in providing our booked table.

    Great food, wonderful server. Couldn’t believe how fast our food and drinks arrived- our server made excellent recommendations and was so nice. A wonderful experience. Only negative was the noise level, but what do you expect at such a popular place. Totally worth it!!

    I’ve been there a few times. Thanksgiving, anniversary, birthday, valentines, just because, etc. and every single time the food, the service and the atmosphere have been outstanding! Keep it going!
