Beauty & Essex has an innovative design that starts in the restaurant’s entrance, a well-curated modern-day pawn shop replete with a saxophone, boom­box, quirky artifacts, vintage treasures, and an eclectic array of “one-off” pieces of jewelry. Continuing past the pawnshop, guests encounter a grand, circular staircase wrapped around a two-story custom chandelier, but only the adventurous will discover all that Beauty & Essex has to offer. With four distinct dining rooms (one private), two bars, a lounge, and a women’s bathroom complete with a salon including a luxurious sofa, and antique perfume bottles. The cuisine, much like the design, is intended to set a new course. Chef Chris Santos was one of the pioneers of the small, share plate dining trend that has swept the nation, and with the Beauty & Essex menu, he once again has created waves on the food scene.

    Wonderful! We came in for pre dinner drinks. Bartender Jose was wonderful, friendly and brought out a cupcake for my Aunt as it was her birthday!

    It’s always a pleasure visiting B&E. My family and I are treated warmly and with a smile. From the hostess to the wait and bar staff, they are top notch. Hope to visit soon.

    It was ok. We were seated in a high chair, very uncomfortable, all the way in the back of the restaurant. Food was good but very small portions to share.

    We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our experience here. The food was so delicious and unexpected. We branched out of our normal steak or scallops and went with the chicken meatballs and nightly special of a lasagna at the recommendation of our waitress. 10 out of 10. It was amazing. Drinks were beautiful and tasty as well. Overall great, fun, unexpected experience. At the top of the list of fave experiences this week here.

    The food and service was incredible! We definitely will be back soon. This is a good spot to celebrate a birthday or anniversary:) We had Billy as our server and he was phenomenal.

    Jen, our server, was great. Super attentive to food allergies. Bartender was great for drinks before dinner. This is a must for anyone coming into the city for a few nights.
