Berts Jazz Bar encapsulates the sleek elegance of the art deco era, complimented by the very best in live jazz, fabulous cocktails and mouth-watering food.

Transport yourself back to the Art Deco glamour of 1930’s New York and the Jazz Age in Belfast’s only dedicated Jazz bar and restaurant: Berts Bar at The Merchant Hotel. Soak up the sophisticated atmosphere and let the cool jazz melodies wash over you. A handpicked list of cocktails completes the extensive drinks selection. A French bistro style menu is complemented by an extensive wine list and, of course, exemplary service. Berts offers live jazz seven nights a week.

All table reservations are for dining purposes only, unfortunately we do not take drinks only bookings.

    Hardest thing was passing security to leave a review, ridiculous process considering you emailed me lol but yes place was lovely staff were good and food was 10/10

    I took my mum to Berts for an early Mothers Day and had a wonderful visit. We had 2 fantastic waiters throughout our stay, unfortunately the young woman didn't have a name badge so I can't call out her amazing service by name but Oisin was the young man who assisted as well and was a delight to chat with. The restaurant had delightful live piano accompaniment through our lunch service which provided lovely ambiance. We had the 3 course jazz lunch and managed to share the starters and desserts so that we got as much as possible- I'd definitely recommend the parfait or the goats cheese panna cotta. I can't wait until our next visit.

    Venue is perfect size for intimate yet not crowded seating. Lighting soft. Food and service impeccable. Piano player when was there for dinner, sound system was perfectly audible but not too loud for conversation. Turn back your clock and enjoy this special place.

    We went for my partners birthday so went all out & it was worth it! We started with the shared baked Camembert to start which was delicious! We had the Chateaubriand to share afterwards…..there aren’t the words! We have done this before at Deanes but have to say this was better, the steak was perfect and there was more than enough for us both, the accompaniments were delicious! No dessert but a couple of cocktails each & I’ll go back for the frozen Irish coffee alone, utterly lush!! Cannot speak highly enough about our waiter, Lorcan, he is a a credit to their team! So attentive without being intrusive and a genuinely lovely, friendly guy! The bill was expensive as expected but worth every penny! It’s not a complaint but the tables are small and it was a little cramped with the sharing platter. The music and ambience were wonderful & we had a genuinely fabulous experience! Will definitely be back!!
