One of Houston’s original restaurants, Birraporetti’s opened in 1974 with the slogan “A great Italian Restaurant…A heck of an Irish bar.” For almost 40 years, Birraporetti’s has been the place to gather on a date, celebrating with friends and family, for happy hour or before or after the theater.
We are noted for our award-winning stone oven pizzas, pastas such as lobster ravioli, & delicious main courses including hand-carved beef filet & fresh seafood. And don't leave without trying our signature Frozen Bellini’s, Irish Coffee, chocolate chip cheesecake, tiramisu, or the berries & cream.
Located in the heart of the Theater District. Steps away from the Alley Theater, Jones Hall, Hobby Center, Wortham, Houston Ballet, Bayou Music Center, Sundance Cinema & a few blocks from Toyota Center and Minute Maid Park.
Open late seven days a week. Join us for Sunday live Jazz Brunch Buffet, Live Music Mondays, or to enjoy our lunch menu for downtown business clients.

We made a reservation well in advance. This may not be the best option for dinner prior to the theater or Symphany. They did not seat us till 40 mins after our reservation time. I think the restaurant likely took too many covers OR the serving staff had some issue getting people to move thru their meal timely (probably the former of the two). The restaurant should be the best in the city at understanding the ebb and flow of the theater crowds. At one point the server was literally like yelling at us, we were not even complaining, but he was so stressed out. The food was good, but it was uncomfortable worrying if we would make the curtain call. We were early for our reservation and allocated an hour and a half for dinner.

We had such a great experience. Service was attentive , but not intrusive. Food was fresh and high quality. We were very impressed with the seafood dishes, especially the crabmeat and asparagus appetizer. Lovely ambiance, with live music and beautiful holiday decorations.

After I paid, I noticed there was an item added to my bill that I did not order, the waiter was nowhere to be found to question the bill, and I had theater tickets that we needed to get to. This is not the first time I’ve had credit card or bill issues with this particular restaurant.

Birras around the Holiday’s always has good food and the servers are attentive, but the process when arriving of being seated for a reservation is always a hassle, this time we were only seated 15 min past our reservation but sometimes it’s 20 min or more.

We go to The Nutcracker every year and have made it a tradition to go for dinner at Birraporetti’s prior to the show. Our appetizers (meatballs and shrimp cocktail) were excellent; the rest of our food was just okay. My filet was overcooked, as were my son’s ribeye and my wife’s pork chops. The fettuccine alfredo was quite flavorful but needed more sauce. We understand that the place gets busy during the Christmas season, but our server had nothing but excuses. My wine came out after we were almost finished with our appetizers…server blamed it on the bar, even though the bartender seemed to be on top of the orders. He tried to give us the bill before we had even received our desserts and had a chance to order coffee (the cappuccino my wife had was excellent). Just a little more attention to detail and this place could be excellent.

The only reason to eat here is the proximity and convenience of attending a performance at one of the neary theaters. I realize most of the food is prepared in advance but it is frequently served lukewarm. The house salad is a sad, dray aging mix of iceberg lettuce and a few vegetables for color. Really hard to get down.
