Located in Dupont Circle in Washington, D.C., Bistrot Du Coin serves up delicious French cuisine. Its very relaxed setting features picnic-style table cloths and a second floor to accommodate a packed house. Owners Yannis Felix and Michel Verdon opened Bistrot Du Coin's doors in 2000 for patrons to converse and have fun while enjoying their meals. It offers hearty starters such as French onion soup and fresh, crisp salads, steamed mussels and sautéed foie gras. Veal stew in a creamy sauce, braised chicken in white wine and pan-seared salmon topped with a fresh herb sauce are filling main courses to try.

Bistrot Du Coin hosts parties to celebrate popular French events throughout the year, and it serves brunch on the weekend with its own menu. This restaurant has an extensive wine list, but also offers cocktails and apéritif. It is open year-round and welcomes reservations.

The food is traditional French - although serving pasta with boeuf bourguignon strikes me as highly unusual. Selling wine by the glass is obviously ok, but not when it turns out that the glass is tiny and the price is the opposite. The glass is the type you normally use for Port. And lastly: Why do they keep adding 5% to the check for extra expenses? Isn't everything an expense that should be reflected in the price that you see on the menu?

Loved the ambiance- felt like I was back in Paris! The food was excellent, especially the leek soup and mussels. The steak was a bit tough, though it was seasoned well. Very good cote du Rhône red as well. I will definitely be back!

Fantastic meal starting with the mussels and finishing up with an excellent salmon dish. The atmosphere is comfortable yet full of energy. Great service and we never felt rushed. Always a stop for us when we visit DC.

There were 3 of out for a post holiday dinner. I remember when they opened in the 90s and have never been disappointed. There is a true French bistro vibe going on. They were nice and busy, with the hustle and bustle you’d expect. We started with moules frites and were delighted. The sauce was great, we stopped ourselves from ordering more bread from the server’s assistant, Anna, so we would have room for dinner. The gentlemen ordered steaks which were cooked to perfection. I had the cassoulet. Wow! Every last morsel was so tender they positively melted in my mouth. The tart tatin was the perfect dessert to share at the end. I am looking forward to returning.

Our waitress seemed to forget about all of her tables several times throughout lunch. We waited probably 10-15 minutes for our soft drinks alone, weren’t checked on throughout our meal, and waited for the check for 45 minutes. The fact that they tack on a 5% surcharge and an automatic 20% tip doesn’t give me any assurance that they value customer service here.
