   I left a note with my reservation that my partner and I were celebrating our anniversary and both of our birthdays that night (he lives out of town and flew in to celebrate) and our server never mentioned anything but we saw the table next to us receiving a special surprise birthday dessert. He didn’t seem to know anything about the menu or the bar and wasn’t very attentive. I was a bit disappointed since we let the restaurant know of our celebrations. Food took forever to come out and then was a bit bland and underwhelming for the price. It’s just not really worth it. It’s a resort restaurant so I guess I shouldn’t have expected so much, but for the price and the reviews, I was quite disappointed.

   the food is well cooked but entirely unimaginative. If the restaurant means to offer a way for people staying at Black Butte to get a simple meal without having to cook it themselves, it succeeds in that aim. It is the off-season, end of October, so it is also possible that everything has been stripped down to winter survival mode.

   Food was terrific but floor staff was running scared all night. Hostess had us wait in the lobby then forgot about us for half an hour. No one on the floor to supervise and pull it all together. Trying to order a bottle of wine was hopeless; at some point we flagged a busser and ordered by the glass. A shame that such good food can’t be enjoyed because of the randomness of the service. Wild Rye does a much better job of this kind of dining experience.

   Incredibly disappointing experience. Steaks were bad cuts and served extremely rare (asked for medium) plus they were cold & luke warm by the time they were served. The salmon had zero flavor and the trout tasted incredibly fishy. While the server really tried, she was clearly over-taxed and the wait for the entrees and the starter was ridiculously long. The best tasting meal was the kids grilled cheese & fries.

   Same limited menu with few changes in the last 2 months; no specials, items already unavailable even at 6:30. What, no Merlot at all?! Bare table except for utensils—no flowers, candle or salt and pepper. Service was herky-jerky, as in we waited for over 10 minutes for our cocktails, then our meal arrived 5 minutes later. Finally got my glass of wine halfway through dinner. All in all, uninspiring, expensive and disappointing. I know the Ranch can do better!

   Very nice restaurant and bar. Service was excellent. Food was very good and tasty, and portions were large. Good value . We would definitely come back.

   Not sure why this place is five stars. There’s an hour and a half limit to your allotted time. They really want you to hustle even though there’s hardly anyone in the restaurant. We ordered a 2019 Pinot noir and were given a 2022. The food was ok for me and very good for others. The desserts were just ok. At 8 pm, they lock the exterior doors so don’t go to your car and try to come back in. No way I’d go back here. That said. The decor is lovely and the scenery and view is gorgeous. Nothing can take away from those two things.

   We chose this restaurant for the sunset view! IT WAS FABULOUS!!! Our server was very attentive. I rated the food at 4 stars because I felt that if you are going to list vegetables as accompanying your entree dinner, there should be more than 2 skinny roasted carrots, or 5 string beans. The menu is spendy, so I feel they could spring for another 50 cents worth of veggies.

    The environment is great, the food was tasty, but the service was very slow. I like a relaxed dinner but there were times when it was or felt like 10 minutes between the times we’d see our server. It felt like they were short staffed but I don’t think that was it. Anyway, reasonable prices relative to what everywhere is charging these days. A bigger menu would be welcomed. They offer the very basics of a menu and I think they should have 5 of 6 more main course options.
