   What a thoughtful and well executed menu. We tried a bit of everything, but if you even kinda-like Brussels sprouts, the Brussels Caesar was the clear winner of the evening. Everything else was varying degrees of delicious, but hands down this is the dish to get every time. Everyone was friendly, the atmosphere is very intimate and I will most certainly be going back to try more of the menu. Only ding on the experience was how little the server really knew about the menu, asked about a dish's ingredients and guy was pretty well clueless. He was very nice but just expected a bit more polish from a restaurant of this caliber. Certainly still a 5 star review, he may have just be a new employee. In any event, what a neat little gem of a restaurant and honestly felt like the prices were a great value for the taste and execution the kitchen sends out.

   To be honest, it was very lack luster. I took my boyfriend for his birthday, and it’s apparent that they don’t read the requests filled out here. The waitress had no idea we were celebrating an occasion. When you first walk in you have to walk past the bar and tables to go to the hostess stand that is placed weirdly in a hall. I also booked the reservation for 7:30, arrived at 7:20 and didn’t get seated until almost 8. I found it hard to hear my boyfriend half the time by how compact our table was to two booths in the corner, and seated right next to the bar, awkward spot. The drinks and food were wonderful, our waitress did an amazing job but she did have to let us know their host was new as we had a dirty cup and no menus on our table. The lemon tart is a 10/10 along with the cast iron strip! Paid about $200 with a good tip for both the bartender and waitress, this included an appetizer, alcoholic beverages, and a dessert. I might come back, but I think I’ll be taking him to Vast next year instead.

   The food was very good, but some sound deadening material in the dining room would be nice. I will plan to return.

   We were a little late but thankfully we were still able to sit down quickly. The food was pretty good and the drinks were fantastic as well. We got the jerk chicken for the appetizer and it was really good. The fries that came with it were awesome as well. The beef ribs were amazing, full of flavor. The chicken was pretty solid but very overly seasoned at least to our liking! The waitress was pretty slow from the beginning which was the only real “issue” but we weren’t in a rush so it was fine. Overall a good place!

   The welcome was warm, the service attentive and friendly, the space comfortable, pleasantly dim, and quiet enough for a conversation. Everything was prepared beautifully, but the tomahawk steak and deserts did not have spectacular flavor. Very reasonably priced for dinner with such a varied, interesting, and high-quality menu.

   Our first time to eat at Black Walnut. Great food, great service at a very fair value for the quality. The attached parking garage was a pleasant surprise. We were very happy with the experience and plan to come again.
