We are fine-casual dining with a fire at the core of its heart. Through the smoke and whiskey ashes of the previous iteration which closed its doors in 2020 rises a new haze of smoke and whiskey as we bring back this iconic brand, smoked meats, bourbon, beer, deep hues, and various spaces to a new location in the North Loop. Butcher & The Boar will honor its beloved roots, while spreading new ones in the fresh foundation that will help our guests embark on a journey with notes of nostalgia that carry the torch forward with new tastes and experiences.

With immense gratitude, we invite you to Live Full Boar with us.

All the food tasted the same, it all had the same aroma of greasy smoked sausage, even the bread. The “potato cakes” (I was picturing latkes) were essentially deep fried hash browns that tasted like frozen tater tots. Other diners were very loud and disruptive and swearing, which isn’t a reflection on the establishment itself, but I hoped for a more classy experience. I was confused about who my server was, because we had four different people asking us the same questions over and over. We didn’t go more than a few minutes without someone talking to us, for example, one staff member would refill our water and ask if we were doing okay, and we’d say yes thank you. Then another staff member would top off our already full water and ask the same question about two minutes later. I appreciate the attentiveness but it felt awkward. We didn’t order any entrees. For two teeny tiny apps that tasted just okay, and a couple drinks, I thought $160-ish was pretty outrageous. Butcher and the Boar seems to be more about having a beautiful dining room and extensive wine and spirits list, than it is about serving great food. I would call it a great bar that happens to serve some okay food.

Great experience. We mostly went for happy hour menu, but ended up there finding the fun meat raffle too on a Sunday evening. We did a mix of happy hour and main menu food and it was a tasty meal! We’ll be back. Oh and for those who went to the original Butcher and the Boar, you can find the awesome penny floor by the restrooms!

Our expectations were not met this visit. We were presented with a special that was a "Tenderloin," per our waiter. Two of our party got it, however, were confused when they delivered it and called it a sirloin. When we mentioned to our waiter we thought it was a tenderloin, but it was really sirloin, he tried to tell us it was the "sirloin tenderloin." We are pretty familiar with steak cuts, so this felt a bit underhanded. The sirloin was good in flavor, visually cooked well, but was pretty tough. If we had known it was sirloin, we likely would have ordered different. We also got the catfish, though cooked well the fish tasted entirely sour. They said it was soaked in buttermilk and Tabasco..it was too overpowering. I can tell it would have been a good dish if you could taste the fish. Their texas toast, Brussels and mash were the stars. We were just disappointed with the amount of money we paid, and what we got. 😞

The service was beyond terrible. It took us more than three hours for an appetizer and main course. Our server was not attentive to us at all. We were never offered second drinks or dessert. For this kind of price one would expect some service to come along with it. We will not return.

The restaurant is beautiful and the food delicious but the best part was the service that we received. Seems like lately service is lacking but this was not our experience at all at Butcher and Boar. Great experience all around.

My boyfriend and I went to Butcher & The Boar for Valentine's Day and it was perfect! The food was phenomenal— the long rib was so tender, the cheddarwurst sausage was delicious, the chive + sour cream mashed potatoes were the best mashed potatoes I've ever had. Our server, Ian, was wonderful! He was attentive and fun! Highly recommend Butcher & The Boar!

Lighting although trying for a romantic night made hard to read the menu. The music was so loud could not have a conversation, had to ask for the volume be lowered. Glad to have gone, but one time is enough.
