Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Captain Americas on Grafton Street offers a lively atmosphere with impressive "cool music memorabilia" and friendly service. Kids particularly enjoy the fun activities like balloon animals and face painting. While some find the portions small, the varied menu and "delicious burgers" make it a popular choice for family outings.

We ate at this restaurant last night. Had booked for two adults and two children at an early sitting time. It was more than 30 mins before we even had our order taken and we had to get up and ask two waiters to come take it. When our food finally arrived we ordered two Cokes and our dinner was finished and they still had not arrived. We had to again find a waiter to find them for us. We sat for ages again waiting for desserts. No one even offered us a menu for that. The children's meals come with desserts, we had to ask for them twice and then eventually they came as we were already standing up with our coats on trying to leave. I appreciate that they were busy, but we were there with two small children and it was late by the time we got out, only because the waitress couldn't seem to stay on top of her tables. We were there for nearly two hours in total, and we only had main meals, no starters and no desserts. It took that long because of the lack of service. I would not return for this reason.

Family of 4 had a great experience today at Captain Americas. The food was great. Would highly recommend the Cajun wings, Philly Cheese steak and ribs. The portions were generous enough that we needed a box to take home leftovers for 2 of us which doesn't happen very often! All of the staff that we encountered were very helpful and friendly. The balloon animals at the table and face painting were an unexpected, but lovely touch that our kids were delighted with. All in all, a lovely afternoon in a Dublin city centre landmark!

Very disappointed with the service, waiter was very rude. I have seen that all the kids are having the crayons to colour the menu .Than I called a waiter he rolled up his eyes and instead to come and answer he just shouted " No" than I kindly asked him if they have the crayons for kids. After another girl came to our table ... she said that will check and she dropped it to out table. As we were waiting for kids food and our main course for ages even though we came to the restaurant as a first guests. After I pointed to the same waiter that they have the crayons. Instead of apologies, he started to shout from the another side that Its not his job as its managers job and he could stop with all his comments never thought that staff are allowed to be rude with customers. Especially than every child he served had the colourings and pencils at their tables and he must of seen it. Unfortunately, couldn't try the main course as the mood was ruined and left ! If the management and the staff have some problems between them they shouldn't be rude to the customers! The worst experiences in Dublin

Nicely decorated for Christmas however the food was average. We ordered starters, mains and desserts. The starter platter was greasy, the mains took an hour to arrive and the burgers were dry and overcooked. The desserts were average. The waiter had to be "encouraged" to clear the table at the end of our mains. We felt a little let down so wouldn't return to be honest.

Food and Staff were very good but 3 people at our table of 9 ordered breaded mushrooms for starters and were told after a few minutes there were none. When the starters arrived one didn't and we had to ask two people before it arrived when everyone else was finished theirs. I ordered a chilli hot dog. When everyone else got their mains I was told there were no hotdogs and I was given a menu to choose something else. Waiter was very apologetic and my order did come out very quick but it would have been nice to know before everyone else got their food . I was afraid to order a burger because the others would have been finished when my was ready.
