   We enjoyed our dinner at the Chart House, but they didn’t have the cocktail I wanted from the menu. My stuffed shrimp were very small, but my husband’s filet was delicious.

   This restaurant has been in the same, incredibly picturesque location for as long as I can remember (at least 25 years), and I think the only thing that has changed are the lightbulbs! The menu is tired, as is the ambience, and perhaps even the restaurant staff! Literally NOTHING has changed here and while “if it’s not broken don’t fix it” works for some historic locations in the area, this place isn’t one of them. We came here for our 25th anniversary and probably sat in the same seats, viewed the same menu and walked the same tired carpet as we did when we were first married! Our food was good, but not spectacular. We would have been served similar at the local upscale diner or any other restaurant stuck in the 1990’s or earlier. My filet was served with a warm lump of mashed potatoes and nothing else, and I was almost embarrassed to be there. Never again! Sorry…not sorry!

   Both TJ, the bartender and Kitty, our server were phenomenal!!! Both treated us like regulars eventhough we had not been to the restaurant in a while. Enjoyed talking with TJ, great personality...beautiful evening with great food and drinks!!!

   We have a 40 year history of visiting Chart House restaurants on both the East and West coasts. Sadly, our visit to the Alexandria Chart house to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary was lackluster and disappointing. We arrived 10 or 15 minutes before our 6pm reservation and the hostesses seemed unaware that we had requested a table with a view when we made our reservation. When I inquired about that, the two hostesses seemed to bicker and we were ultimately offered a large booth far from the window or to wait 30 minutes for a window table. We accepted the booth, but soon after regretted it because the booth was awkward to get in and out of and because we witnessed several window tables become available within 5 minutes…and that continued to happen throughout our meal. I should also mention the restaurant was only moderately busy. Another disappointment was with the kitchen. They delivered the smallest portion prime rib to my husband, when he had ordered the largest. When he pointed this out, the person who delivered the food initially argued about it. When this was corrected, they still failed to bring out a side dish he had ordered. My prime rib was just ok…kind of dry and not very flavorful. I was happy to hear their salad bar was available, but it was poorly stocked, there were dirty plates in the plate chiller when I opened it, the bowls of lettuce were nearly empty, the watermelon did not look fresh and the cherry tomatoes I selected turned out to be mushy, like they were old or had been frozen or something. One bright spot was our server…she was pleasant and proficient. We didn’t see her as often as we would’ve liked, but I think they were understaffed. My other comment is that the restaurant was not kept up to the CH standards we’re accustomed to. The hallway to the restroom and another area near the entrance were full of clutter, the toilet in my stall was leaking and the bathroom windows were dirty. Like I said, disappointing.

   Great location on the Potomac in Old Town Alexandria. Food and drinks were amazing!

   The one in Annapolis has better service and I felt that quality of food was better in Annapolis

   The overall experience was not good. Even though I made a reservation for 3, they sat us in the bar area instead of the dining area where there were plenty of seats. The service was slow and the server was snappy when she came to the table. They failed to put in one of our entrees and when they did bring it out it was over cooked and dry. I hope that they do better next time.
