   Dan is an excellent waiter, very personable and he helps make our dining experience enjoyable. I had the salad stack and clam chowder and my partner had the sea bass. We both had a glass of Prosecco.

   Our server was excellent. It was nmh birthday and NYE and he made sure everything was celebration worthy. I ordered the double lobster tails from the set menu. They came out overcooked. Our server caught it and had a new plate come out with perfectly cooked lobster. My son’s steak was full of fat and overcooked. Our server also replaced it with a perfect filet. The meals shouldn’t have left the kitchen in that condition. It was busy so maybe the chef didn’t catch it but luckily our server did. I wish I could remember his name because he was super helpful. The rest the menu was excellent and the espresso martini soufflé was out of this world good.

   For decades the Chart House in Genesee was a flagship of fine dining and superior service. The entrees were consistently exceptional and the service outstanding. As a result, the Chart House became a reliable destination for both personal and professional meals. When I asked my partner this year where to celebrate his birthday dinner on New Year’s Eve, he selected the Chart House based upon his own wonderful experiences. That all changed last night. Diving home, the question continued to come up, “What happened to the Chart House?” What causes a historically, reliable restaurant to deliver over-cooked, charred lobster tails, close to rubber in texture, served with raw broccoli flowerets that required a steak knife to cut joined by overcooked mushy zucchini? Why, accompanying the inconsistent plates, was the table service from the waiter so jaw-droopingly horrible? The waiter (Gun or Sun) would be better suited at a fast casual establishment where customer service and table awareness on special evening, like New Year’s Eve, is not required. Examples include leaving used dishes and utensil on the table so long that a request had to be made to have them removed; not checking in to see if the food is satisfactory or if anything else is desired; failing to deliver the correct food to the correct individual; and neglecting to offer coffee an at the end of the meal. Exceptional service and exceptional food; pretty standard requirements for any fine dining white linen restaurant. It may be passé to expect significantly higher quality food and refined service from a waiter when the bill is $250 for a party of two. But, it is not. If your goal is a fine dining experience with exceptional service, worthy of your patronage and expense, with sadness and disappointment, I cannot recommend the Chart House.

   Late reservation, which I get it NYE, slow service, again NYE, but salad bar not kept stocked up and one person ordered a Caesar salad and it was so warm and wilted the Parmesan was melted.

   We were there on New Year’s Eve. We had not been there for many years and had a gift certificate. I must say we were all expecting so much better. There was a canned menu for the night, which gave you 3 courses for $79. That did not include the famous salad bar I always loved. It was $10 more. My friend ordered a Cesar salad that came out wilted and had no Parmesan cheese and no dressing. When she sent it back, they brought out a severely chopped up tossed salad. They did take off $10 for the salad mess! The rest of us enjoyed our dinners, although the vegetables were either mushy or too hard to cut. We have a choice of premier restaurants these days, so don’t think we will be back very soon

   Four of us ate dinner at your restaurant tonight and each one of us thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. My Chilean sea bass was superb! It actually melted in my mouth! My husband loved his lobster tails and our friends raved about their steak and salmon. Our waiter was fabulous and his suggestions and attention to detail was superb! The other wait staff was great, as well. We look forward to coming back, soon!!

   Plan on leisurely dining experience. we were seated promptly but it took our waiter at least 10 minutes to come get our drink order. after another 10 minutes he came back and said the bar was backed up and could he get our food started. Drinks finally came along with a bread basket. probably 40 minutes before our food came. overall it was a pleasant dining experience, just took about 2 hours.

   They barely had any of the items on the menu. It was extremely upsetting and not worth the price of it.

   We had Christmas dinner there. It was a three course fixed price menu - perfect! The server was San and he was great. It was snowing and we were right by the window so the ambiance was great. The ONLY complaint I have is - they were out of all fish when we got there at 7:15. Oh, and we waited 30 minutes for a lava cake dessert because they burned our round of prep (per) San. He did offer us an alternative and was very cool about it. We’ll be back again and again.

    We've always had exceptional dining experiences at The Chart House, but Christmas dinner was not that. Our server seemed put-out that we were there and we received a basic level of service. They were out of many of the set menu options. Our salads came with onions when we asked that they be removed. We all ordered filets and we were served two filets and three other cuts of meat. The nicest part of the evening were the young hosts who were polite when they sat us and agreed to take a picture of our family on the way out. In summary, we will not be coming back for a Christmas dinner and The Chart House has moved down our list of preferred restaurants for where to celebrate occasions.
