   Outrageous service charge for mid quality food before tax then still wanting a tip. Not good prices, completely overpriced. Nobody was there and the jean booths were honestly kinds weird.

   We have dined here previously and were very pleased with the service and food. Tonight was a completely different experience. It took a long time for our food to be delivered, and the restaurant was not packed. One of the side dishes was forgotten from the meal. We had to flag down a waitress to let her know, and it took forever for it to get to the table. It didn’t make it to the table until after the main dishes had been finished, and this was the mac & cheese. My boyfriend loves the mac & cheese there and he orders it every time. But this time it tasted very bland and milky. He didn’t finish it-he always finished mac and cheese from Chef Art, so we were disappointed. It was removed from the bill for having to wait for so long. The portions were smaller than they usually were and the service was slower. The waitress simply dropped the check and kept going. There was also a screaming child on the other side of the restaurant that nobody attempted to address. The child sounded like they were in pain or distress and screamed and cried for about 75% of our hour long visit. To the manager’s credit, she did remove the mac & cheese from the bill and gave us a complementary cupcake.

   Excellent food and service. It always surprises me why the place is not full. We had a great time and the food is amazing Thanks to alm at Reunion.

   Food was amazing! Hot honey chicken biscuits and fried green tomatoes were so good. Cannot wait to go back and try other menu items.

   This was first time at Chef Art’s. I invited 10 of our closest archery friends from around the Midwest that were in town at Navy Pier for a National Archery Tournament. We all had a great experience while dining in the private room and agreed that the food was very good. Being a local to the Chicagoland area, I look forward to returning to Chef Art’s the next time that I’m in the area. Especially late Spring/ early Summer.

   First, we noticed the fresh and bright decor. Next, the live music. Beautiful young lady. Amazing voice. I didn’t catch her name, unfortunately. After looking at the menu (thank you for mocktails!) we settled on hushpuppies and fried green tomatoes for apps. Wow. The pimiento cheese and red pepper jelly went perfectly. We also ordered the fried chicken, strip steak, chicken sandwich, cucumber salad, greens, mac & cheese, and shrimp & grits (upgrade to cheddar, totally worth it). Everything was absolutely amazing. Portion sizes were big enough that we all shared bites and still each took to-go boxes home. Mel was outstanding. She had such a great personality and made sure we were well taken care of. The only thing we would change was to wait to place our entree orders until after we finished the appetizers. The food came out so fast that we weren’t finished with the apps. But it was all good. We will definitely be back!!

    Such a letdown. It really felt like a tourist trap. The oil must have been too cold because the hush puppies and fried chicken were not crispy and left my lips and tongue oily. The hush puppies were also gummy or undercooked in the center. The deviled eggs had a good filling but the whites were rubbery. Fried green tomatoes gad a nice flavor, but again, oily. The greens were too sweet and very overcooked. The biscuits were heavy and salty. We wont be back and are very disappointed. Avoid this place especially for the price Looks like Mr Smith just lent his name for money.
