Having spent years supplying London’s top restaurants through their separate wine businesses, Joe Haynes and Benedict Butterworth have joined forces with Tom Hurst, who has worked at Brawn, The Marksman, Levan, and most recently as Head Chef at Lasdun, to launch the trio’s first restaurant together.

Located in a Grade II listed building on Cloth Fair, Cloth Restaurant is part of a historic row of buildings in the City of London that survived the Great Fire of 1666. Down this atmospheric alley opposite St Bartholomew church, Cloth is taking over a double fronted corner site that’s beneath the former home of poet John Betjeman and next door to the two oldest residential buildings in London.

Inside, low ceilings, wood floorboards with antique wall lights and artwork create a cosy, intimate atmosphere, while marble tables, long dark wood banquettes, antique crockery and cutlery will create the feel of a classic bistro.

    Utterly delightful......what a gem! Atmosphere, lightning, the room, wine and the food create one of the most memorable dining experiences in London. all of this and impeccable service.....this truly is a place that needs to be enjoyed!

    Really really disappointing. Was looking forward to this meal for our anniversary and it was…not great. It’s unbelievably cramped in the restaurant - they’ve obviously tried to fit as many tables as possible and it’s awkwardly close. Service was poor - inattentive and we had to ask for bill three times. Food was fine - nothing spectacular. Beef was tough and pork pasta was flavourless. Red wine was very stale unfortunately. Really a disappointing experience following the hype. Won’t be back and wouldn’t recommend.

    We had such a lovely time at your restaurant but the prices were extortionate for what we had. £38 for 2 fairly slim pieces of rump steak where 1/3 of the piece was fat was outrageous. Also the pasta that we had with fennel sausage was pretty small for £25 especially comparing it to other amazing pasta dishes you can get in London for much less. I totally understand that your have to cover your costs but leaving the restaurant with a £250 bill for a nice meal seemed over the top. We had such high hopes as the ambience of the place was so nice and had such a cosy feel but i can't recommend anyone going there when you feel like you're being ripped off. I'm so sorry to write this but we really were disappointed
