About this restaurant

  • Great for outdoor dining
  • Innovative
  • Great for brunch
Old Town Alexandria's favorite outdoor dining experience is back! Just steps away from the waterfront.

King & Rye is excited to announce the return of our Cocktail Garden experience located in our courtyard. The redesigned space features lounge areas, intimate dining spaces, fire pits, a summer music series and – of course – a special menu of stellar seasonal cocktails to explore.

The cocktail program, curated by General Manager and Executive Bourbon Steward Allison Strunk, is an addition to the already-robust cocktail experience at King & Rye, with a focus on a variety of spirits and fresh seasonal fruits, vegetables and herbs. Chef Tomas Chavarria has curated a Southern-inspired menu for the garden including shareables like Local Farmer's Charcuterie Board, Drunken Mussels, and a Taco Platter.

Book a lounge of a Taste of the South dining experience!

Booked via OpenTable on Thursday for a Friday reservation at 10am which was later adjusted 11:15am with no issue. We arrived early for our reservation after a 45 minute commute only to find the restaurant closed. Hotel front desk was nice but an utterly ridiculous experience!

I was looking for a lively spot for my birthday brunch but it was a ghost town... Service was okay a little slow to start and even though I stated on several spots in my reservation that it was my birthday no mention of it at all when we were there. Also you should post the hours of brunch, we were told an hour after we arrived it was already last call for drinks. Unfortunately not coming back for a fun brunch in the future.

Our group of 5 went for Sunday Brunch in the Cocktail Lounge Garden with their$25 per person cost (Entree and drink). Limited menu selection, but entrees we chose were all plentiful. Waiter was not very diligent and wound up charging us the a la carte prices instead of the advertised special.

Went for brunch in the cocktail garden. It was $25 a person which included 1 meal and unlimited juice. The juice was only orange or cranberry so you could make your own mimosas. Buying a bottle of champagne was reasonable at $32 per bottle. The food was good but nothing special. Based on the online description of brunch and the reviews I just expected a lot more

The cocktail garden at King & Rye for Sunday brunch - We arrived early for our reservation and the restaurant accommodated us by seating us at a table in desirable location. The day was a perfect weather day and the garden was lovely. Our server was cheerful, helpful, and efficient - but did not push us to hurry through our meal. We enjoyed drinks, cinnamon rolls and entrees - at a reasonable price. If in doubt, try this restaurant!
