3rd visit and impressed as ever by the service, attention and food quality. Introduced friends from out of town this time - they’re planning to go back for Sunday lunch…

I was hesitant to leave this review as our experience was not necessarily bad but the more I think about it the more disappointed I am. I visited with 2 friends to celebrate my birthday on a Thursday evening, with much excitement following rave reviews and years of excellent experiences at Dunne & Crescenzi. The menu was really exciting and the atmosphere lovley. The service was really attentive and kind but our 8pm booking felt like it was treated by a 10pm Saturday night walk in by the kitchen. The food ordered at 8:35pm was nice but notably lackluster and obviously prepared in a rush. To add to this sentiment we were told the coffee machine was closed when we ordered our deserts ( before 10pm). Working in the industry, I understand places have bad days but given the price point and reputation this experience came as a really disappointing surprise. There are a lot of exciting places to eat in Dublin at the moment and in this economy this meal feels somewhat wasted .. I wouldn’t recommend for an occasion meal.

Our son chose Crudo to celebrate his 13th birthday. We had been there for his sisters 16th and everything about it made a huge impression on all the family. We had calamari x2 , monkfish and bruscetta with baratta for starters....just delicious. All flavours were sublime and perfectly cooked. Mains of spaghetti with scallops, lemon sole tempura with grilled broccolini, mushroom risotto with hazlenuts were extremely well received, andvegan pasta with baratta (apols can't remember the full name) was the star of the show. All portions were very generous. That didn't stop us ordering 2 x herby crushed potatoes to share though! Topped of with water, coke, pellegrino, and a glass of Gavi 4 very happy peeps headed home for birthday cake. Service was warm, friendly, exceptionally knowledgeable and extremely well paced. We will certainly be back (again) 😉
