Cyclone Anaya’s has the best Mexican food in the River Oaks area and great staff. We love going there. They face stiff competition in the neighborhood from Escalante’s, Mi Cocina and others. I think the drinks could be improved. My husband has tried several margaritas from the specialty and has not found one he likes. They are either too sweet or have too much lime juice. I like the skinny but I think it is generally short on tequila. I do not like how they serve the ranch water to be drunk from the Topo Chico bottle. I ordered a Topo Chico and a shot of tequila the other night (to mix acc to my preference). I paid $23 for that privilege : ( $5.50 for the TC and $17 for a shot of Hornitos reposado. I had blackened shrimp tacos for dinner - delicious and <$20, but my meal still came out expensive. Maybe we will just get take-out next time, but then we would miss the lovely staff ….

We arrived at 5:00pm to enjoy the last hour of happy hour. The music you call energetic was interfering with the conversation we were having at the table. Very difficult to hear. The service from Michael was outstanding with his attentiveness and professional manner. The food was generally good. We all ordered something different which gave us an indication of quality overall. I like that you have a separate dining room.

Great new location with cool indoor/outdoor bar. Food and drinks are both on par with other CA locations, which is to say very good.

We went on a Sunday for Brunch to the River Oaks Location. The salsa is amazing, a little spicy and not sweet like most Tex-Mex. We had the spicy strawberry margarita, I wish it was spicier but I did enjoy the frozen pieces of strawberry. The Chilaquiles Verdes were AMAZING!!!! The fresh jalapeno slices added the perfect crunch and spice. The verde sauce was peppery and a little tangy, the crema on top was sooooo good. Would definitely go back because our only regret was having dinner plans too soon after lunch so we had to share because we really wanted to try the Tres Leches Pancakes!!!

Very light crowd on a Friday night, which was surprising since it was difficult to get a reservation. Plenty of empty tables in the main room. We opted to sit in the bar instead. Noted that the crowd consisted of mainly people our age - 50+. A few older children bringing their older parents. Restaurant was nicely remodeled from Frank's. The bar is very nice with a super option - sitting with your back to the open air. It will be interesting to see what happens when it gets to 80+ degrees - like today. They have a nice "private room" for those who want a lower level of noise. It is right off of the bar - nice touch. Noise level was very good - good music at a good level. Overall, a much better feel from the worn out restaurants in Rice Village and off of I-10. Plenty of parking that night - both self-service and complimentary valet. Okay, to start off with, the bartender did not know what type of beer was on tap with Karbach - huh?! But, I do appreciate that they are one of the few Mexican food establishments that carry an IPA - thank you!!! They have plenty (too many?) asst. managers running around at this time, one of which stated what type of beer it was and gave me a taste - nice. The food - whether it is because it is a brand new restaurant or not, was better than what we have received recently from their other locations. Also, maybe because it was new, the service was excellent and attentive. We did enjoy sitting at one of the bar tables - seemed more lively. Recommend that you add it to a Mexican food restaurant rotation and hope they keep it up over time and do not let it get worn out like the other locations.
