    MICHELIN Green

    2024

From the OpenTable editors: This Logan Square pasta spot got a fresh start in a spacious home in 2023, after which it nabbed raves from the Chicago Tribune and a MICHELIN Green Star for sustainability. Much of the produce at this Italian-by-way-of-the-Midwest restaurant comes from chef Joe Frillman's brother's farm outside Chicago. Find it in playful dishes like onion dip with housemade Ruffles, fritto misto with cheese curds, and pierogi with mussels and beer.

Very overrated and a 25% service charge is greatly unjustified.

I was excited and hopeful about this place but the experience seemed to slowly go downhill as the night went on. The appetizers were creative and tasted great, tried the potted carrots and beef tongue. The mains however were a bit flat and one note. Pasta really lacked any flavor in the sauce and wasn’t very enjoyable. My biggest gripe was the service, started off great and attentive, from ordering to drinks/refills, but then became noticeable not everyone is on the same page at the restaurant. There are a lot of workers here but seems disconnected. Apps came out to the wrong table, no big deal.. but then they swapped our mains, and started to seem like this may be a typical issue. This may not seem like much but they forgot one key thing that was stressed and noted multiple times, a dairy allergy. They assured my partner that the meal was suitable, and then also claimed to make mine without dairy so we could share. Sure enough mine was saturated in butter, but no big deal she wasn’t that interested in it given it didn’t look super appetizing. However, we found out later that she was breaking out due to the dairy in her meal. A frustrating way to end the night given this restaurant seemed responsible enough to be able to follow through with an allergy accommodation. I’d like to add that they don’t have a specific allergen menu (which again is fine) and just crossed off menu items and mentioned dishes that could be made without cheese etc. I appreciate this from the service standpoint but feels like something a restaurant of this level should be better about in general and not relying on the server to make up for. Maybe my expectations were higher given the service charge but I do believe service should be top notch if you are requiring the automatic charge for it.

The butternut squash appetizer was good but a bit buttery. Similar w the pumpkin pasta. The app w the cheese curds was fire as was the pappardelle mushroom pasta. Drinks great. Service great

Absolutely Outstanding! We had the most incredible experience celebrating our anniversary here. Everything was perfect, and our server (I believe their name was Nick) went above and beyond with their helpfulness and expertise. The food was phenomenal (get the quail), and the overall atmosphere was flawless. My husband summed it up best: “My only critique is that I’m not still there eating the food.” Truly a 20/10 experience—we wouldn’t change a thing. Thank you for making our special day unforgettable!

Great spot! Loved the pasta dishes, we got the pumpkin farfallle and stracci. The brown butter on the farfalle was divine. Stracci was great, but probably would try something else next time. The appetizers didn’t wow me, which was disappointing. I wanted the potted carrots to be better. Cool concept with the puffs to eat the carrots in, but cold mashed potted carrots without a ton of flavor wasn’t my style. The Brussels sprouts were great, but I’d also try something else next time. Maybe the cheese curds or the onion dip on the return! Fantastic service. Genuinely couldn’t have been better. Place was packed and very clean and open feeling. Dope spot!

The brunch options were limited to about 8 amazing choices. I went with the Cavatelli Carbonara. The bacon pieces were substantial and the egg yolk added a lively creamy richness to the dish.
