   We had an outstanding meal at Easting House during g Christmas week 2024. After initially being offered a less than desirable table it was changed and we were seated outside in a lovely part of the restaurant where it was nicely acknowledged we were celebrating a milestone e anniversary. We started with the ribs and pork/crab pillows bascially dumplings. Both could have been my main meal. They were delicious. For our Mains we had paella an enormous portion of saffron infused seafood. rice and chorizo and a Hawaiian fish sautéed in truffle butter with risotto. Both dishes were outstanding. And a slice of banana bread in celebration of our anniversary. A truly memorable and delicious meal.

   We eat here every time we come to Oahu -one of our fav meals. Food and fish are fresh and well prepared.

   Really disappointed all around. The staff was nice enough but was not attentive. They needed more folks working that evening. Even more disappointing was the meal itself. There was not one thing special about the salad, bao buns and sushi roll that I ordered. Hoping it was just an off night because I love Roy's concept restaurants.

   We have been to this restaurant several times. Each time, we always make a reservation. Each time the hostess tries to give us the worst table. The host staff always have a chip on their shoulder and an attitude! Unfortunately, this visit was no exception. When I made the comment that this always happens to us, she had the nerve to tell me I should make a reservation and reserve a table. That’s exactly what I have always done. We’ve been fans of Roy Yamaguchi restaurants for many many years. We were even invited to a private event where Roy cooked for us. By far, this restaurant has the worst employees working the host stand. Our server was Aidan E. He was wonderful- attentive and made great recommendations. The food was wonderful. However, while we will return, we hope this review will provide some serious training opportunities.

   The menu and quality of the dishes here were not as good as in Kauai, although the atmosphere was good. Overall, I would not likely return.

   Food was excellent!! Our waiter was superb offering selection help for one of our party with several allergies. Birthday dessert was appreciated. Much mahalo!!!

   We had an excellent table next to the open kitchen (glass window). Amazing food, great service, they made a sweet effort for a birthday in our family.

   This is Roy's new concept, but they still have Butterfish, and so much more. I believe a quite large menu, especially when you add to it that they can customize your dishes. The appetizers are the best in Honolulu and priced fair. Happy Hour is also very exceptional. This was my second time but I brought 8 guests and it was the first for them. They all raved about the food and drinks and will be back. Exceptional!

    Overall grade : Poor First the good thing, service was good. Our server was attentive and thoughtful. The same cannot be said about the food. We ordered chicken + waffles for my son, Veggies roles for the spouse and Poke + Salad for me. My son and spouse, both were dissatisfied with their dishes. My salad came out dipped in yuzu dressing - on tasting it immediately I felt that the salad was stale. It had this weird taste that you only get from stale ingredients. To their credit - they took the dish back and returned with salad without the dressing. This time around the salad was a tad better but now they reduced portion size of my poke. Finally, we ordered the tropical halo halo dessert, this was another monumental disaster. The shaved ice was way too course, even amateurs can put together a better dessert given the ingredients. It just felt the mantra of the restaurant is to make money without focus on food quality. This place had downright bad quality control, unbecoming of the Yamaguchi name. I had much better food and experience at food trucks in Oahu, this was a terrible waste of time and money. In the end, I felt thoroughly cheated, avoid this place.
