Mushroom tartine - very good. Onion & fennel soup - nice flavor, right amount of creaminess but way over salted. Sliced steak & fries — just right. Service was awful — doubt the waitress had ever waitressed before. 20 minutes to get a can of beer (had to ask for a glass) and a glass of wine. She then wondered off after getting the order for two starters without asking about mains. Soup delivered without a soup spoon. We had to remind the waitress to take the mains order. Then ordered a main to be split but the requested extra plate and a 2nd glass of wine never arrived. Too bad.

The atmosphere at Elsie’s Daughter is unbeatable. I loved the decor and vibe of this place! It felt comfortable and unique. Our food was delicious, everyone was very pleased with their meal. The drinks were very unique and expertly crafted, I enjoyed getting the recommendations from our server. I especially loved getting to the restaurant, it felt like we were on a quest finding a secret garden tucked away from everyone else.

Hi Ethan, We are working hard to get back to full power at Elsie's after going through some major changes! We are back on track with delivery timelines, so the 'out of stock' issue should be solved - I am so sorry that you had to experience that on your first visit. If you would like to speak further, please send a private message so that we can create a solution! We hope to earn your business back in the future! All the best, Jordan Myers

The ambiance from furnishings to music were terrific! But-we were greatly displeased with the happy hour oysters on the half shell that had a vinegar based brine. I asked for a description of the oysters before ordering and was told they were sweet which was what a couple of us were looking for, but with the vinegar mignonette already on them, all sweet disappeared. We were greatly displeased. The market oysters were pre dressed with a ginger serrano mignonette. It would be helpful to the guests if the oysters and their prep were described as oysters can speak for themself and it would be nice to have personal control of sauces and the mignonette. Something that was odd was at 530 pm they were completely out of bread. The server managed to come up with some toasted bread after we inquired a couple of n times. Several dishes were served with bread so that made choosing more difficult as the dish would not be complete without bread. The drinks were delicious, and our server was attentive. The fall salads were very good and the candied walnuts delicious. Two guests ordered them, but I noticed they were served in a deep bowl which made eating more challenging and presentation less aesthetic. I believe this is a fun establishment if you want a good drink and a snack. The outdoors area is arranged for socializing and welcoming even in the winter.

Hi Teresa, Thanks so much for taking the time to leave this review and let us know about your negative dining experience. While this is not at all our goal at Elsie's, we appreciate the chance to correct these issues for future patrons (and hopefully you if we can re-gain your trust). We are going through many, many changes at The Hotel Chalet and Elsie's Daughter, but that is not a valid excuse for how your visit went down. Give us this month to get everything running back at 100% in the kitchen and then we would love to invite you back for a re-do visit. Give us a call or write a message here on OpenTable to discuss further. All the best, Jordan Myers

Visiting from Texas- Delicious food and drinks, and a great atmosphere. Basia was so sweet and gave us perfect drink recommendations to complement our meals and mood! 10/10

Went for brunch, sat down, ordered our drinks, then when we went to order our food, we were told there were no eggs. If we were told that on the front end, we would have not ate there. Most of the brunch menu items included eggs, we were not supplemented with anything. They were also not apologetic
    Elsie's DaughterResponded on February 4, 2025
Hi Holly, The egg shortage hit us early, that's for sure - We are so sorry that your experience started with this type of disappointment. I can promise you that our entire crew was just as surprised that morning and when the truck landed without the staple breakfast ingredient to brunch magic! The lack of supplementing was another key factor in making your experience 1 star, and I totally get that. We are going through some major changes in house, but are working tirelessly to get things running back to 100%. We are going to work hard on correcting in house issues, and would love to have you back to dine sometime in March for a "re-do" if you would be willing! Send us a message to continue this dialogue. All the best, Jordan Myers

Very cool eclectic atmosphere. Unfortunately food was average. Ran out of the only Cabernet ( at 6:00 on a Friday night). Bill was wrong.
    Elsie's DaughterResponded on February 4, 2025
Hi Steven, Thank you for taking the time to leave this review. I apologize for being out of Cabernet - we are working to correct stocking issues as well as other issues we have faced over the last few weeks. The food being average is not our normal, I can promise that! We hope to earn your trust and business back in the future, if you would be willing to schedule a re-do. Send me a message here or give us a call and we will make it happen! Again, we are so sorry for your experience and hope for the chance to make this right. All the best, Jordan Myers

The food was wonderful! We had the French onion soup and the crab cake dip for appetizer and for our mains we had bolognese and the stuffed poblano. Such unique flavors and so delicious! Everything is homemade. Server was wonderful and very attentive. Friendly staff. Our dinner was great and would go there every time we are in Chattanooga.

The food was great. They were just a little understaffed and out of everything. Lettuce, steak, oysters, a lot of wine, etc. It was a long weekend too which was a bit annoying considering they only have 4 or 5 entrees on their menu. Feeling like inventory should be ordered before a long weekend. Our waitress was amazing but it definitely could’ve been a better experience.
