For over 60 years, fondue dining at Geja’s Café has been a favorite indulgence for Chicagoans as well as out-of-towners. It’s a perfect way to kindle romance, celebrate a special occasion or simply join family and friends for a fun and unforgettable dining experience.
To start we offer a Swiss Gruyere cheese fondue, served with fresh breads, fruits and vegetables for dipping. Our crisp house salad, dressed with tangy Dijon vinaigrette, offers a counterpoint to the rich, warm cheese fondue appetizer.
Next, you’ll cook your choices of Australian lobster tail, Gulf shrimp, beef tenderloin, fresh sea scallops or boneless chicken breast in a pot of sizzling soybean oil or broth. The main course is served with fresh vegetables and eight gourmet dipping sauces.
Our famous chocolate fondue is flamed table-side, and presented with marshmallows for roasting and other delectable dippers.

A 4 % operational fee is added to all checks to work in concert with Chicago's One Fair Wage Ordinance.

Sometimes you really cannot recapture those great moments of the past, or great meals of the past, it seems. Life changes, and so do restaurants. That's not necessarily bad, merely factual. Geja"s was a site I have a long history of enjoying. From the very beginnings in the 1960's, when they basically offered cheese and sausage plates with a fabulous selection of wines. Later, they added the cheese fondue option, and then dessert. The final additions were the meat and seafood fondues, which were a new concept. I was disappointed they no longer offered the wonderful wine I had first encountered and loved there. It was a turning point on the path to adulthood, and my lifelong appreciation of fine wines. Additionally, the cheese fondue previously had wonderful, fresh slices of crusty french / italian bread that perfectly suited the warm gooeyness of the melted cheese. What was offered was tasteless and dry, and not at all near the quality in flavor and texture of past meals. The place is still beautiful to see, staff is still very helpful, and service is on target, and the live guitar music is still, thank fully present. But, the missing delicious wine that prompted me to return, only to not even be available, was a huge disappointment. At this price point, and distance I must travel, this will most likely not warrant an additional visit. I guess you really can't go home again.

You’re definitely paying for the experience but it was fun and created convo about the food. We both agreed dessert was the best flavor wise. Surprised to see THC infused drinks on the menu, which we ordered but they were so watered down not worth it. We sat outside on a chilly March night and it was very cold, I thought the outdoor seating was enclosed and heated plus the fireplace, but it is not. It’s just the fireplace in the middle of the table and the area is sunken so the cold was sneaking in right at head level and our legs/feet were freezing. It didn’t help service was slow so we were out there for over two hours. We had a server and server assistant who was training but service was still very slow. I put in the reservations notes it was for a bday so I didn’t think I had to mention it but good thing I did at the end because the server had no idea. Overall, I would go back - definitely to try the indoor seating since the ambience was very cool - but I’m not rushing to go back.

Was my first time going here. Wanted to experience the best birthday dinner and they did not disappoint. From the sparkling water to the salad and fondue goodness, and finally our seafood platter. Everything was absolutely delicious. Made the vino go down very very well. Will definitely be back!! Thank you for giving me a wonderful birthday experience.

Geja’s is one of my favorite places ever & that’s why I wanted to spend my 30th birthday here. This time was subpar. I believe it was mainly on our waiter & the service he provided. We were expecting him to be more personable because it’s the service that’s always provided here. He wasn’t attentive to us much or our fondue. We didn’t have enough cheese & the chocolate ended up over cooking. Nonetheless, we will still be back! I still love this place so much, I think this was a one time thing! (:

Much nicer than anticipated! Great food, exceedingly cozy atmosphere. Service wasn’t 5 star in the fine dining sense, but they were very nice and brought everything out in a timely way. Was just a bit informal which can be nice.
