I was a bit disappointed. Of course, due to the cool weather we dined indoors. Our view was stacked chairs sitting outside the windows, no ambience to speak of. Service was very good, quick seating and our waiter was patient and efficient. The food was fair to good. Nothing to really rave about. Recommended crab cake was too spicy. Salmon grilled cheese came out with burnt bread. I brought guests from out of the country and must say I did not impress them on this visit.

The ambience was nice though our table wobbled everytime we moved even a small amount which was annoying. We loved the half off wine on Wednesdays but our waiter took my glass before I even finished. He was also pretty abrupt the entire visit but I've definitely experienced worse wait staff. My friend and I both had the classic Crab cakes. I personally thought the Crab cake itself was delicious, full of flavor and the perfect amount of moisture. The bread they brought to the table (foccacia and cornbread) was also a delight. That being said, the sides left much to be desired. They severely lacked flavor and salt and there wasn't any salt or pepper on the tables. The greens had a slight taste of being cooked in ham hocks but just needed salt to bring that flavor out. The potato salad was so bland that my friend didn't eat any of hers. I did end up dipping mine in the accompanied mustard sauce which made it palatable. Overall, I'm glad I had a delicious Crab cake while in Baltimore but I probably would not come to this specific restaurant again.

Food variety and prep outstanding. Cuisine also very creative without being over-the-top. Prices very, very reasonable. Excellent exhibits. Service also outstanding. A wonderful way to end the day, too, after a visit to the BMA and its ex

I really enjoyed the selection I chose, which was the lamb meatballs with figs and onions as a starter, followed by a 1/2 chicken salad sandwich and a cup of soup. The chicken salad sandwich was delicious. There was some sort of mild spice in the sweet potato soup that didn't appeal to me, maybe curry? Anyway, I think I would have liked it better if it had been spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg and a pinch of cloves, to simulate a pumpkin pie flavor. I ordered a dessert to go, but have not eaten it yet. The only issue I have with the menu is that so many of the items sounded very good, but had one ingredient I know I don't like. Also would have preferred to have a choice of sides, rather than just chips with my sandwich.

I dined at Gertrude's to participate in their fundraising dinner in support of the Y in Central Maryland. It was an excellent experience, and I love to eat fantastic food at a philanthropic local restaurant that gives back to the community. I will definitely be back.

I took a friend to dinner before a show at the museum and it was the perfect choice. Everything was timed perfectly to ensure we were able to make our show in a timely manner. The food, service and ambiance was amazing. Wednesday happened to have some great discounts which was a pleasant surprise. Will definitely return for a midweek boost.

The location inside the BMA and its garden is the only reason to go. The food, although it tastes fine, is made with toxic industrial processed vegetable oils. And the coffee ruins an otherwise decent brunch - the coffee at Dunkin Donuts is far better. It's closer to brown dishwater than coffee. And they do not have espresso or Americanos, which should be required for any brunch local with tablecloths.
