Restaurant Review: The Girl and The Goat The Girl and The Goat continues to solidify its reputation as one of Chicago’s must-visit dining destinations. With a focus on bold flavors and a playful approach to globally inspired dishes, this restaurant delivers a truly memorable experience. Highlights: •Bread and Pimento: This dish is deceptively simple but executed to perfection. The warm, freshly baked bread pairs beautifully with the creamy, smoky pimento spread. It’s the kind of starter that sets the tone for an indulgent meal, leaving you reaching for seconds (or thirds). •Empanadas: Bursting with flavor, these are a standout. The flaky, golden crust envelops a perfectly seasoned filling that balances savory richness with a touch of spice. Each bite feels like a small, delicious adventure. Drinks to Complement Your Meal: While The Girl and The Goat boasts a full bar menu offering craft cocktails, wines, and beers to suit any palate, the non-alcoholic options are equally impressive. The menu features thoughtfully crafted mocktails, infused with fresh herbs, seasonal fruits, and house-made syrups. Standouts include a refreshing citrus-and-mint blend and a rich hibiscus and ginger cooler, each perfectly balanced to enhance the meal without overpowering the flavors of the food. Dessert Note: •Chocolate and Peanut Butter Dessert: A decadent and satisfying way to end your meal. The harmony of creamy peanut butter and rich chocolate creates a nostalgic yet elevated experience. The textures—silky, crunchy, and smooth—make this dessert unforgettable. The Girl and The Goat’s ability to innovate while staying approachable is what makes it a perennial favorite. From small plates to desserts, and a drink menu that caters to every guest, every dish tells a story worth savoring.

Food was excellent. Being family style, we could try a few things and not stuff ourselves. Had an excellent Manhattan. Staff was beyond excellent. Thank you for an exceptional time. Would go back for what we didn't try and what we enjoyed.

Food was delicious! We loved every plate! Our only complaint is that lighting was too dark. We understand it is for the ambience but we couldn’t see the beautiful food and plating, but maybe that’s just us :-)

It’s a packed high energy restaurant with great food…tapas style shared with the table. For party of 3, we got 6 dishes and could have shared a few more. But we did save room for dessert. Ordered the special and it was goat, which I usually don’t eat. But I tried some and if I didn’t know, I would have thought it was beef. Overall great food and great service. I’m glad we made it a point to dine here.

As fans of Top Chef, we can only hope to one day taste the food that comes from the minds and hands of the chefs we’ve watched for so long and grown to respect. Stephanie’s flagship location delivered in every aspect. Despite it being a full house, our small group felt like we’d been transported to our own little world where we were the only diners that mattered. Everything from the bread that began the meal and the cocktails that complimented every bite to the pork shank and laughs with our bar tender that concluded the meal was a journey I will always think about and an experience I will always be grateful for. Excellent and creative food that was always seasoned perfectly.
